    HP GLOBAL WARRANTY does anyone know how it works?

    hi, i found a really small page in hp's site in regards to this GLOBAL WARRANTY that they claim they have but it wasn't really that clear to me how this thing works. it is pretty vague.

    it doesn't eve list if the laptops i am choosing come already with a 1 year or a 3 year warranty... again... vague!

    i have emailed hp twice now and it has been a few days already.

    does anyone know how this GLOBAL WARRANTY thing works?

    i am buying a computer here in the USA but later on i might have to move overseas due to my work... so i want to get a laptop from a manufacturer that offers INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY in case something goes bad.

    i was looking at either the dv6700z model or the dv6700t special edition one.

    NO ONE?

    was wondering if ANYONE knew anything more about this or had used it?

    i am most interested in finding out if you buy a model in country A that is not sold in country B but HP does business in country B as well has authorized repair centers if that model would be under warranty?

    the way they explain things on that link above is a bit obuscure in that matter...

    I tried getting a repair on my ZD8000 laptop in South America. They denied it.

    It was colombia though, so your YMMV.

    Most consumer grade notebooks like the dv6700 do not offer international warranty coverage. Something like the Fujitsu A6120 which would be similar to the dv6700 do carry international coverage. Some ThinkPads offer it by machine type, Dell I believe offers if for a charge, Asus, some HP business notebooks. That's not a comprehensive list, but just off the top of my head. If you really need it to be there you should contact the manufacturers to make sure your covered. I wouldn't hang your hat on a small page on HP's website.

    I'd also add I've seen other posts like Intel's where HP consumer notebooks were denied warranty coverage when the notebook taken out of the US. Again I'd recommend confirming it with the manufacturer rather than basing in on a webpage or what you find here.

    Well for me the global warranty works. I bought my DV5T 3 months ago and now I am working in Vietnam atm. 2 weeks ago my computer got extremely hot (as the CPU hit 100C >.>) and I took it to the local HP service and the they actually ordered a new CPU fan from the US for me (free of course, within warranty and all). Just got it back today and it's back in action. So global warranty? YES. Just look for the nearest HP service center, that's all.

    We did so with a laptop Dv9700 to AU and this is what the Warranty lookup reads after entering S/N & P/N from the bottom of the laptop. That laptop stated 1 year warranty other we have here don't , so I guess you have to ask if it says so on the bottom.
