If everyone hasent noticed, HP is getting a little complicated with thier notebooks. A little confusing and rediculous as well. Look what I mean...
Mini Series
Mini 1000 (XP)
Mini Mi (Linux)
Mini Vivienne Tam Edition (Different color and no 8.9" option)
Now, why dont they have one, with a Linux and XP option. As well as a color option?
Versitile Performance
Compaq CQ60Z, dv5t, dv5z, dv6t, dv G60t, and dv5t Special Edition.
Now, tell me that isnt too much! The page is so crowded! And all are very similar!
Mobility
dv4t, dv4z, dv3z, dv4t Special Edition, AND Touchsmart tx2z.
A gain, way to much. Not as bad as above, but still crowded.
And then, Entertainment Powerhouse
dv G70t, dv7t, HDX 16t, and HDX 18t
Not as bad, but what happened to the dv7z? and whats the point of the dvG70t?
Is it just me, or are they getting a bit rediculous here?![]()

Only now? If you're familiar with HP's practices, they have always been like this. The idea is to cater to every single possible market segment.

I think the idea is that they will be replacing the DV5T with the DV6T and the DV4T with the DV3Z , etc.
I wouldn't be surprised if the 15.4" lappies were gone in a few weeks/months. -

The models that confuse me are the seemingly redundant Compaq and HP Gxx-series. The G50t and the Compaq CQ50 (at least the Intel-based units) were almost identical. The G60t and the Compaq CQ60 (again, Intel-based models) also are also near-twins. Finally the G70t and the Compaq CQ70 are very similar.
What's the point of having the HP G50/60/70 and the Compaq CQ-models competiting against one another? Perhaps making the Compaq models all AMD-based and the HP G-series all Intel based...that would seem somewhat logical....right?
The Pavilioin dv6t also doesn't make a lot of sense to me. At least with current deals, the HDX 16t is a far better deal, not to mention sexier-looking and superior performance! The dv6t only makes sense in lesser configurations. Adding options and upgrades can quickly break the $1k barrier....into HDX territory! -
I agree, you'd think they'd spend more on R&D on fewer models lines so as to produce better products, it's almost as if they're trying to compete against themselves.
I owned a dv9xxx series and just to clean the heatsink assembly is ridiculous compared to some of the other manufactures, which I believe should be a given considering the problems some of the HP have with over heating -
Yes the G60 series comes with both amd and intel processors. http://search.hp.com/query.html?cc=us&lang=en&search=++&qt=g60&la=en The G60-120us comes with both broadcom and atheros wireless cards. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=2093&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3795258 Obviously these are some seriously evil people.
