HP is giddy with enthusiasm with its prospects of selling notebooks this year. Last year they shipped 6.5 million notebooks [:0] and this year their goal was to ship and sell 10 million notebooks (a heady increase over last year). However, HP has now announced that they think 11 million is more of a number they'd like to achieve this year [:0] [:0].

    Good grief.

Is that obtainable? That would be an amazing feat if they did manage to pull it off.

Hi there! I actually work for hpshopping.com and I can tell you that 11 million soudns about right to me. hpshopping.com itslef sells tons of notebooks so when combining this with best buy, circuit city, etc. HP is selling alot of notebooks. We get memos quite often telling us how we are beating the pants off dell, which i find quite amusing.

Well, I went to HP over Dell for my notebook needs. HP offered a lot more performance at a better price. Not to mention, I've heard too many complaints from friends and random Internet posters about the build quality of Dell and I've got two friends with Pavilions that rave about 'em. I'm pretty happy with mine so far.
