I'm having a problem with my computer (hp hdx 16) constantly shutting off. This would usually happen only when I would try to start up a game and it would shut off after 1-2 minutes. Now its sometimes shutting off if I run a simple video on youtube. I got the fan cleaned out about 3 months ago and that helped at the time but now it's worse than ever. Does this issue have to do with the drivers? It's definitely not overheating because it doesn't even have a chance to heat up before it shuts off. It's usually very cool to slightly warm.

    Thanks in advance.

Still, did you check the reported temperature in the computer? (e.g. use HWMonitor, Core Temp, GPU-z)

The temperature sensor could have gotten stuck at a high temperature. It will turn of when it thinks the temp has reached 100C.
