I was using my laptop normally when suddently it began to freeze. No blue screen, no reboot, just freeze under Win7.
I did hard reboot to Win XP, same problem. And I re-tried to reboot under Ubuntu, same problem, freeze...
So, I tried a memtest because at this moment I was expected a ram problem, but nothing, 3 pass OK, no error.
BUT after that, next reboot, even no Bios...
Black screen, no bip, JUST the hdd led blinking in red.
So I tried to change the hdd (by a one I'm absolutly sure it works)
Same problem.
I tried to boot on a cd as well, it doesn't work.
I'm really in difficulty.
Is not someone who perhaps could help me?
What the meaning of red blinking on hdd led? (Normally this led is always white)
Someone knows the errors codes of the HP hdx 18t?
I'm supected a cpu or motherboard failure. What do you think?
Thanks
-
My money is on motherboard failure.
-
Thanks for replying.
Even if I don't like the idea it can be a motherboard failure.
Is someone who the meaning of error codes ? (Led, blinks, color, ...) -
I don't think anyone here knows, and it's not mentioned in the manual AFAIK. Ask in the HP support forum.
-
Yes, I took a look in the service manual as well, they don't mention anything about error code.
So I tried to take out the hdd, and after the ram module, just the hdd led red blink stopped. I installed others ram module
But the screen is still black. The seems to try to boot, and re-boot a second time, the fist caps lock and vernum blink 3 time, and the second boot it blink without stopping. The cd start to spin...
What is this sh**???
-
Reboot loop always means bad mobo.
-
Ok, finally HP will repair my HDX. There support center said me, it's probably the motherboard...
Is it usual, this kind of motherboard failure on the HDX18???
I'm a bit affraid about the future of this machine, because this failure occured suddently in 1 day... before that it worked visibly fine. -
Boards fail and there isn't much to do about it. It's because "environment-friendly" solder is of much poorer quality than the leaded one, and it gets damaged easily.
-
Ok.
When you "environment-friendly", do you mean RoHS norms or somethings like this??? -
-
Ok, I've just received back my notebook from repair center. I want to thank a lot all the persons who answered me on this tread.
First, I was really surprised to receive my lappy in less than one week.
In fact they just changed the CPU.
The CPU burned. I wonder why? My Q9000 is not overclocked, and I check oftenly the temperature.
