I too can confirm it does not work. I spent the last 2 hours trying different ways to get it to work. I installed it with the .exe over the 5607 no go code 10 error. I tried installing with the .INI with the 5607 same thing. Then tried both of those methods with the windows driver. For me every time I got the code 10 error.

Man..the SRS driver messed my stuff up...:/ First it wouldn't install properly, then it allowed me to reinstall it but now after like a few hours the audio drops completely..:/
Anyone know a way to get rid of it fully, then do a clean install of it again to see if it works? -
That would be sweet. Anyone have any input? Wait you know this is the 20 inch Dragon forum right Robert? Though I guess the question could also apply to the HDX Dragon.
-
That shouldn't happen at all. What version of Vista did you install to - 32 or 64bit? And did you accidentally install the 64bit SRS on 32bit Vista? That would certain mess things up. You couldn't install the 32bit SRS on 64bit Vista though.
Might be something up with your dual boot setup.
Also, if you installed it properly on 64bit Vista, you should only use 64bit players. What other players are you using?
See my post to hovercraftdriver a few pages back about clean uninstalling any driver. -
I downloaded and installed the 32 bit version to my 32 bit OS. I use Windows Media Player mostly, but I also have Quicktime and Nero installed. I'll try to uninstall and follow your directions. Thanks.

nice price
-
It is a very nice price. Makes me wonder what it really is considering MXM video boards for an enthusiast level GPU cost significantly more than that.
-
It might be possible but is WAY beyond the scope of most users here. Requires a fine tip soldering iron, knowing the right resistor value to use for this particular PLL, what pin on the IC package to cut, what 2 pins to jump, Where to connect the resistors to the FSB...
Besides, it's extremely dangerous even if one theoretically knows what they are doing. -
Ok so how exactly do I tell which version of the 9000 I have. I currently have the ATI video but would love the Nvidia option is possible. -
Just upgraded to 8gb with the Patriot memory which I got on sale at NW last week for $265
feel snappy especially with the Windows 7 RC. I have technet and will try that option as well.
Just added 1tb of Seagate Momentus 7200.4 hard drives and my upgrading is almost complete.
I have an x9000 cpu waiting to go in but need to find the thread with photos showing an HDX 9000 being taken apart. Can anyone point me to that
thank you -
there was on 5XX page
-
The price just went up to $387.60 I bought one this morning at the $77 price.
-
If it's an HDX 9200-9400, it's compatible with the Nvidia GPU. Since you're opening up yours to install the X9000 CPU, If your motherboard model is 464591-001, you're good to go.
But if the mobo doesn't have the part number on it, as long as your model is HDX 9200-9400 it'll work. Won't work in HDX 9000-9100.
Beware that some early HDX 9200 models had the ATI-only mobo. But not many of them were produced. -
Figured it was a price error. Hope they honor your order @ that price.
-
Probably it was, but it lasted for more than 2 months. I was going to have it a try in another laptop, but later decided to get HDX.
-
Same pricing error shows up in various HP part stores around the globe. HP US had it for some low price for a while also. But simultaneously listed another with the same part number for a much higher price. All depended what HDX 9000 model you entered in part search.
-
Wow crazy. Anyone know another place to get them at that price online?
-

I found model number KR835AAR
Looks like its a no go
-
Yup, unfortunately. Sorry about that.
-
Just got an email stating they had a price increase to $375 and asked if I still wanted to continue with the order. I think I'll pass and go the SSD route.

What is it about different HDXs that makes 5929 work for some and not for others? I installed, and it worked "out of the box", including the sub. Does this work well with 5929?
Thanks! -

LMAO... you know he drafted that also before posting it too! lol -
ok I got the x9000 installed (boy what a PITA) but I have a question.
I have an ES X9000 but it only appears as a genuine Intel CPU at 2.80ghz
It brought my windows score for 6.0 to 3.9
????
Any reason? -
ES (engineering sample) versions can have all sorts of issues since they aren't meant for sale, but for testing. They also do not have the same stepping that retail version of the X9000 have.
Run other benchmarking programs and compare results. WEI score isn't exactly a reliable gauge. -
Some of the HDX 9200s and a relative handful of HDX 9300 used slightly different sound chips. Happens in manufacturing sometimes. Run out of the spec'd component, or find a better deal, substitute in a fungible one.
-
2.0 you are correct and I will try other options.
On another note, I was finally able to install the Intel Wifi 5300 which makes a nice bump in speeds. How? the next slot over works like a charm. Who knew? -
That's awesome info. What router are you pairing it with BTW?
-
-
Intel(R) ICH8M LPC Interface Controller 2815.
anyone know where I can find the driver for this (vista 64bit)
Last thing I need to install with Win 7 but looking around I cant find this driver -
Sweet! Cat 6? I wonder if Blu Ray streaming would work with TVersity via XBox 360.

Howdy 2.0, I'm trying to find the clock speed of the GSkills but can't seem to find them anywhere..could you please post what the speeds are of the GSkills? Also if someone has a notebook that takes 800 and not 667 would the GSkills work at all since theyre only 667? Thanks.
-
A good test would be to run SiSoftware Sandra lite. It is free and has a lot of useful tools. http://www.sisoftware.net/index.html?dir=dload&location=sware_dl_3264&langx=en&a=
You could then do a comparison to the scores I posted in my pic thread with my OEM x9000.
That would help to give you and idea if it is close or way off. -
Here ya go:

Wow it looks like my laptop is compatible with the video card!! How would you go about and install this card on here? Do I need to replace the cards and remove the drivers or drivers first etc? I dont want to replace the cards and have the lcd display not light up lol Also are the drivers for this video card available for download?
what would you recommend I do? -
You have a nice set up. Where'd you get the 256 SSD from and how much?
-
Thanks man
-
Its either the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, the Intel Chipset Installation Utility for ICH8, or an IDT STAC9271 Audio Driver ( like the sp40438.exe possibly). What worked for me in my Vista 2 bit installation was the IDT STAC9271 Audio Driver (sp40438.exe) I believe or a combination of the previous ones.
-
What is your HDX model and bios number?
-
Before install, clean delete the driver. Cntrol panel, device manager, right click on the ATI video entry, click uninstall and check delete box. You may have to reboot. You want the generic VGA Microsoft driver to come up. When it does, you're good to go for the install.
You can find drivers in many places. Start with the one on HP's website. Then you can try the ones on Nvidia's website. Then Laptopvideo2go's website. This thread is littered with video driver talk so no worries on that front. -
Guys. I have minor problem with my HDX. At start up gpu fan for my hxd is very noisy, but after some time the noise becomes less noticeable. How do you think there is a reason to get fan replaced under warranty?
-
hello, i have HP HDX The Dragon, and i have a problem, the touch buttons keep clicking alone without me touching them, the quickplay and TV and DVD keep opening and clicking alone, its hard to use the laptop, i formated it and the problem is still there, is it hardware problem?
-
Hey guys,
I'm waiting on a new hard drive and hard drive catty to come in the mail this week, and I'm wondering if anyone has done this upgrade. I there anything I should know before I start? Maybe someone can give me a "heads up" and possibly some directions.
I thought I'd hit two birds with one stone and clean the fans while I'm at it. I've had my HDX for almost a yr now so there's gonna be a lot of debris and junk in those babies!
Anyway, I'll let y'all know how it turns out. -
one of my fans, the one on the right-hand side, will spinup sometimes and not settle back down, I need to reboot the machine and then it will run normally (quiet), so I'm not sure if its a software or hardware issue
-
I experiences the same problem. After played COD for a while. Closed the game but fan for cpu kept spinning like it was under load. Went to normal once I restarted it.
-
Once again... You da man!!! thanks 2.0! So do you think its worth replacing the ati card with this one? I found this card for 65 bucks. Well there be that much of a difference?
-
If it can truly be done, ABSOLUTELY! Check here for comparison: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html
Better than twice the performance. -
For those with fan issues (like slow to settle down, etc.) a program called HWMonitor when run, interrupts the BIOS slow ACPI calls and settles things down much sooner.
Here's how to best run it:
Download HWMonTray v1.5 app here: http://download.orbmu2k.de/download.php?id=36 (comes from here: http://thehobbylounge.com/forum/index.php?topic=4271.0)
Put it in your root directory. Right click it and create a shortcut to it. Drag that shortcut into the Startup folder in your start menu so runs at boot up.
Download HWmonitor: http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php
Be sure to download the appropriate version (32/64 bit) for your OS. Also put it in your root directory.
Log off or reboot.
Additionally, if you run windows sidebar, you can download HWmonitor Meter widget to display whatever HWmonitor reports.

Also, for fun, this sidebar widget, MultiMeter, is cool: (Though it doesn't display temps. Only HWmonitor Meter above does.)
