I have to agree about the buyer, but the seller could know nothing about the market value, and having been ripped off originally for over $4000, figured low $3000's was good.

    But, then again... ;)

Don't mean to drag this out, but on the topic of overpriced HDX's, there's this Idiot on ebay selling a midline used one, starting bid is $3300!!!

Maybe that is Slovenian dollars? :D

hmmm, Maybe I need to get someone better at writting to put up my ebay add "This beast will kick your and take names!!"

but yeah it still has the plastic sticky covers on the top and the screen and everything. So... would getting 1700$ min to to much or just right? and then make them fight over it by having the buy it price at 2200?

hmmm or maybe I should wait a week to see if anyone on this forum just wants it for about 1800$ so I don't have to lose that stupid final value fee.

Also, yeah shipping is free, and I have a really nice out of run carrying case for the HDX I'm giving away with the computer.

you know... I bet... I could easily sew that case into a backpack....

or just sew my own using that other bag for the protective foam...

hmmm maybe I could make custom cases for the hdx as the cases are so rare, that might be a fun side project.

Did I mention it needs to be somewhat stylish, too? That Dicona with backpack straps sewn on would be like screwing a carry handle onto a mini-tower PC and calling it a portable! :D

yes i set it to default. i even did all this, left the tv off, restarted the computer with the hdmi plugged in then turned the tv on.

also tried restarting the computer with hdmi out, then turned tv on, then with tv on and restarting computer.

i don't know what other program would be ouputting audio without my knowledge if any.

thing is that i can see the audio level meter go up and down, when, lets say i play music in windows media player, but nothing is coming out of my tv speakers.

i tried all 4 hdmi ports on the tv.

funny thing is, only the side hdmi port even works to display the hdx screen on the tv (weird?). do you think the hdx knows which hdmi port i first plugged it into, and it will just not work on other hdmi ports? very weird. it's a new tv since christmas and have the latest firmware installed.

She's not a tech enthusiast at all, and yea I had some questions for her :) One was the 5.6GHZ..wowee right? Lol. She said if no one else surpassed my offer I would have gotten it for $1900-$2000 which I thought was fine since the warranty even if I added one myself would cost $200-$400 something. Didn't you apply or get a huge discount when you bought your HDX cto though?

Coupons back then. I think I saved about $600 on a HDX20. But, hers was over $4000 when she bought it. Not sure they had coupons back then.

That was then, and this is now, though. To get that much for that HDX is either extremely lucky!

With this economy its hard to say but you will want to go with the lowest end of a range and hope they bid up or else do your top bid and offer a Make an Offer option? Just suggestions. I have been trying to sell all the Gskill memory units I got and have one left but I wonder how long it will take for that one to go with how things are. I already have a 2.5 which Im using right now. I want a 2.8 because I dont want to have to take it apart myself and want more power. $1600 is reasonable within a range. If someone buys that 2.5 for 3000+ that would be insane.

I was shocked to see anyone offering over $2000 for that one on Ebay. The previous sold for 1800, 1900, and 2000 around about. But I don't believe the girl knew the market value and I think just wanted to get most of her money back since she didnt use it much.

Hurry!!! This Slovenian HDX 20 just dropped $500! It's a steal at $2800 now! (different auction, same guy and same ad).

I wonder how he's going to use the US Postal Service to ship that HDX Parcel Post from Slovenia to the US?

    S-C-A-M ???

Lol. I think he should charge on a sliding scale..the worse the specs the more it costs, and then ship it using Australia to make it more believable. Duh right?

Uh oh..auction ended..I hope he didn't sucker someone into a Western Union wire payment..:/ God protect that person..:/ I've been burned for a hundred or so one time on Ebay (not counting the rape worthy fees Ebay/Paypal charges), but can you imagine being burned for $3000+ in this economy especially?

Nah...there were 0 bids on it. I think he just ended it, then reposted it at a lower $2800 starting bid price on another auction.

Who, in the US, would buy something from someone who is in Slovenia, anyways? You deserve whatever happens! :D

just got my hdx 18 with 32 bit processor so I can use dreamweaver and had the tv tuner installed. only problem is there's no instructions for using the tv system. I am using a hd antenna and not cable. does anyone know how to delete channels i don't want or to organize them as they are not in the oeder the tv has them in on a regular tv? and also there's no instructions for using the built in dvr. Does anyone know how to use this thing or is there some online reference to explain it? Please send e-mail reply as I'm new to this group and don't think I'll be able to find my way back here.

why don't you think you will find your way back here???? just randomly stumbled on here, registered for 1 question, on on you go? just wondering?

you could bookmark the site you know.

also there is an hdx18 forum. this is the hdx20 forum.

EDIT: by the way, not sure if you chose 32 bit to use dreamweaver, as i have 64-bit processor, and i use dreamweaver and the rest of CS4 suite with no problems at all.

I have a hard time with the sound as well sometimes. One time I got the previews for the Blu-Ray to play audio but the movie itself was muted.

One thing I learned is not to try and mess with the audio settings in Quickplay so if thats what you're doing I'd suggest just changing the digital output device by right clicking on the sound icon on the desktop and changing it there.

Did you get an answer yet on the poor image you were getting on the TV from the HDMI? If not, I solved my issue with that by changing the aspect ration of my tv from 16:9 to 1:1 and changing the flat panel scaling to Fixed Ratio on the Nvidia control panel.

    Hope that's helpful.

thundertesticles, i will look into it more, thanks for support. i do not use quickplay however.

it makes me wonder now if all (few) that are outputting video and audio through hdmi are only playing movies or what? should ANY audio be heard through the tv speakers, be it system sounds, etc., or just movies through quickplay?

    thanks.

Works with all audio sources on mine. From windows sounds to games, music and movies. And I don't use quickplay either.

Are you using an HDMI 1.3 capable cable?

I have a LG TV (not here so dunno the model), and I have had a similar issue for the longest time: nobody has really been able to help. This is what I figured out on my own, since the problem for me definitely comes from the Nvidia driver:

1 The original HDX Nvidia driver makes everything work fine (TRY GOING BACK TO THAT ONE!!)

2 A way to force the PC to recognize the video with all newer drivers is to just switch input (put a TV channel on and then go back to the HDMI, for example, while the PC should be making sounds) - Or change the screen input (16\9 - 3\4)

My guess is that these newer nvidia drivers fail to tell the PC that a HDMI connection has been estabilished, and therefore some sort of refresh is necessary (I am sure that someone one day will be able to better explain what the hack is going on!!)

If nothing works, try connecting the dragon to a different TV as a test.

(PS. Hey are you really the girl in avatar picture?)
    :)

i believe i am using 1.3 cable, 2.0, but not certain. i will have to isolate this as a variable for sure. what cable are you using? perhaps 1.3 is later than what the hdx was designed for? will let you know when i can know for sure/borrow a cable.

blackknight, thanks for encouragement. yes i will try other options like what you suggest. it's weird that the tv only seems to recognize 1 of the 4 hdmi ports (the token side port), and not the 3 rear, but i'm fine if at least 1 works as it does for video at least.

yes it's me. and i'm part cherokee, might not look like it from that pic, but ya...thanks.

oops. i guess your right. not really a freudian slip, just not careful in reading all the letters correctly, kind of glossed over it.

it's like when things are pornounced wrong, your mind kind of fixes it, i guess that's what happened, and i made the first sense out of the "cles" and juxtaposed it with the capital t in the beginning and filled in the blanks.

by the way, if you read that last paragraph of mine, did you read it as pronounced? cuz i spelled it p0rn-ounced. if so, then you perhaps performed a reverse freudian slip...and then what would that mean? :D :p

hope you didn't spit it on the HDX! if so, how did you clean it up? (just to keep this on the hdx topic) lol

I've tested several cables I bought off ebay ranging from $5-25$. They all work fine.

On another tack, most TV's, Sony included, only allow PC timing signals via HDMI with one of the HDMI ports.

    Lovely. :)

This is " old-gen" 65nm G92 found in laptops running the old Intel 965 Express Chipset Family, and who knows, if prices come down a bit more, say US $250, it might become worth trying... 2.0 might be able to sell a copper heatsink mod for it as well :)

(I think it is for a reason that HP is only offering the "new" GT 130M on the HDX-18t with DDR3 main system RAM configuration. The 9600GT is available on HDX-18t with DDR2 main system RAM. (the VRAM on both is GDDR3.) It might be something to do with these newer cards in the 1xxM and 2xxM series. Just a theory of mine at the moment, but the above HDX-18 observation is fact, irrespective of reason behind it.)

New Dragon owner here! I was curious if there is any way to use the S-Video port as an S-Video "out" to feed video to a low def. tv? Based on what I've read, it only mentions input for DVR purposes I suppose. After dropping the $ on the laptop, the wife says "no way" to a hdtv!

From what I recall it was stated to be hit or miss with regards to MXM upgrades, and there was progress made (others have gotten Blue Screens going the 280, 2.0 got it to boot, and recognize the GPU and shaders even) but done over a short period of time. Besides this no one has tried a 3700 upgrade in an HDX.

Alright let me know if you get it to work, it took me a while to figure that out: some drivers seemed fine until I started a game or whatever sound producing program, then I just had to switch back and forth to another input while the program was running - weird.

PS Hey you are a babe! Well, alright, I am gonna have to impress you by training a fighter in that "mybrute" arena of yours... Guess I'll call him "Thundertesticles"... (a blonde blue eyed cherokee!!!??? Where do you live? Where is your tribe? I want to meet them!)

There isn't a way to do it. BUT a lot of dvd players have HDMI-in now, that could be the excuse to upgrade that instead.
