    I'm not sure if

    1. If I upgrade the video drivers there would be a significant performance increase?
    2. If I upgrade the video drivers would I have any issues with conflicts and other items not working properly ex media center etc.

    I've got an HDX9200 w 8800M GTS 2x120GB in raid 3GB ram and T7500.

I'd have to say I get decent framerate at 1680x1050 even played Crysis at that in DX9 mode with blur off at nearly 30fps.

I'm a desktop guy so not sure whats gonna do what to this laptop hah.

...and the ATi vs NVidia shot lol - I had to get the 8800M GTS cause the ATi was not making me a happy camper.

I have the hdx 9350EB, crysis played with high specs, not very high.
Installing a game like c&c3 r crysis take about 30min , think the hd is to slow (500gb 5400rpm)

Yeah I opted for the 7200rpm drives...

As far as enabling the raid if it did not come that way I don't know does it have the raid controller built in still?

    Hi coppermine18,
you can check what kind of chipset is installed into your laptop with chiputil.
    You should find:
    - Intel® 82801H BM I/O controller hub (ICH8M) - AHCI only

Or in your case it's surly this one with raid functionality:
    - Intel® 82801H EM I/O controller hub (ICH8M-E) - RAID and AHCI

You may have purchased a show room or testing model.

    I see:
    Memory Controller:
    82GM965

    I/O Controller:
    Intel(R) 82801HB/HR I/O controller hub (ICH8M)

    Integrated Graphics:
    Intel(R) 965GM Graphics And Memory Controller Hub(GMCH)

So, hdx 9280 el has no raid ??? :(

i have tried 3dmark06 with original driver (ho don't remember the version). I got around 7500 points. With last available on laptop2go I got 7200 points.

    What is your score?

To me it seems not so differend than 8700m ... I was thinking somehow better on 8800 :)

You always want to keep your drivers up to date, especially the graphics card. There are new drivers coming out monthly (sometimes every other month), but they fix issues and sometimes can help performance. If you do notice that an updated driver is giving you problems (which with Nvidia it rarely will), then all you have to do is reinstall the previous drivers.

Another note worth mentioning for all those people that like to keep their drivers up to date, HP's website is not kept up to date with the latest drivers, so you'll have to go and get them from the manufacturer's website yourself.

Yeah - I always update my drivers I just read the warning when on nVidias website about installing updates and that causing problems with my laptop due to all the media features/integration etc.

I was like woooahhhh I dunno about this.
