    Hi,

I just noticed a little strange thing with my system. HP HDX16 with P7350. In CPU-Z I see core speed 1595.8 I'm observing and it changes to 1595.9 and then 1596.0 and then 1596.1 and then shoots up to 1995.0 - I have never seen it reach 2.0 and never go down below 1595. When processor speed changes I can here problems with sound while listening to music.

Another thing is the Bus speed, which is fixed at 266.0mhx, isn't it supposed to be 1066?

    see attached screen.

    anyone can clarify?

I disabled stepping in BIOS, and cpuz still shows 1500 range not 2.0 :S

I'm seeing this too. Maybe I'm not understanding something... Is the processor not performing as it should?

while listening to music for example, when processor speed changes I hear sound cripples.

1995 MHz is equivalent to 2 GHz.

You're not counting the multiplier when calculating the bus.

CPUZ has an alternative algorithm that works better for some chipsets. With CPUZ open, press F9. This changes the algorithm. Notice that the “Multiplier” will be greyed out and will not vary but it will then show the “Core Speed” stepping. To return to normal press F9 again.

    Reference your depicted speeds:
    Bus Speed (266.0) x Multiplier (6.0) = Core Speed (1596MHz)
It’s the Multipiler that is stepped from 3 (798MHz) to 7.5 (1995MHz) for your P7350. Sometimes you may see the Bus Speed vary by .1 or .2 but you will likely never see 2GHz. This is normal.

Rated FSB (constant) = 1064 (just a tick below 1066 but so are most)

    Hope that helps.

I see. but also my rated FSB is not so much constant, it goes 1063.9 to 1064

also multiplier never goes under 6. even if I'm not doing anything. it should scale back right? when there is some process it goes up tot 7.5. that's the only change. never goes less. is it normal?

also GPU seems very scaled back, core 169, shaders 338, memory 100mhz... this is like bare minimum for my 130M :S

Close all appications, perhaps even disconnect from your network. With CPUZ open press F9 and don't touch anything. Give it a few seconds and it should downclock to a 3.0 multiplier (798MHZ).

" also my rated FSB is not so much constant, it goes 1063.9 to 1064". That's pretty constant in my book. :)

Not a problem. It’s how we all learn…. and by that I mean me too…. every day. The only reason I had a clue about how to approach your problem is that, like you, I like to know everything is running “ as advertised”. When we bought my daughter a DV4t last year I ran into the same issue with the P7350, chipset, and CPUZ combo after a clean OS install. I’d run CPUZ for years and never knew about the F9 option (or needed it) until I finally (after hours of searching) came across the notes on their site. Duh…. did I feel stupid, but as it turns out it’s just one of those rarely needed and rarely used features you can hip pocket.

At-any-rate, the “Big Question” is…. did you get it to down clock?
