Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Fedex NOT leave packages behind, especially if they require a signature? So if you're not home, they just try the next day? I live in an apartment complex. I was at home when Fedex said they'd come. Then I checked online and it was already delivered, to the apartment office. Fedex driver made no attempt to come to my Apartment. I guess the driver was like, screw it what if hes not home. But the office is always there.

Yeah, no way Fed Ex leaves a package at your door that requires a signature. All HDX's require sigs.

Also, I grabbed the box from the Fed Ex lady and she was suprised and said, "Now you are going to set that down and sign for it right?" lol.

I pretty much grabbed it out of her hands, haha. I was pumped!

These items ship with "indirect signature required" on them. If you get a Fedex doortag, sign it with instructions to leave it on your porch, they will leave it there. I've done it before on expensive items, and Fedex personnel also said that this is their policy.

It's nice that your apartment office would accept delivery, though.

Well, it definitely rained today. Mine was still had not arrived to the states as of this morning. So I called HP and they said it wasn't possible to change the shipping method! HP's overseas customer support is about as bad as they come. They did give me a $75 credit after I wasted an hour of my day.

Rageman, mine's coming to northern Indiana. Would you mind sharing your tracking schedule with me. It just left Anchorage this afternoon, and I'm guessing it'll come to Indianapolis next, right? And from there to South Bend, IN, where I'll pick it up myself. Sounds like it has the potential to be here really quickly anyway, am I right?

Oh yeah, you'll probably get it quicker than I did.

Mine had to go to Alpena MI (2 and 1/2 hours north of Pontiac/Detroit) and then to Lewiston where I am staying and going to school. So you'll probably get it a day sooner I'd say.

    Go Blue!!

Also, is there any big difference between the 2.5gz core2duo and the 2.8ghz? instead of shelling out 400 more bucks for it wouldn't it be smarter to get a QX9300 off ebay? that's why I ask.

    Cheers

So here's my tracking details so far. I'm thinking it should arrive in Indianapolis or Memphis late tonight and arrive in South Bend, IN (a main FedEx hub and where I live) early tomorrow morning. So it should be at my door tomorrow afternoon, 5 days before the scheduled delivery!!! I think I'll camp out on my front porch tonight and sit in a lawn chair all day, what do ya think? :)

LOL. The tracking is not really accurate. When I saw my laptop was coming I stayed up all night since deliver was on the weekend I assumed. However, I found out Fedex doesn't deliver on the weekends so I wasted my sleep for nothing. When it comes, it comes.

That's right, FedEx doesn't ship on Saturdays, that's UPS. Ya, it could always get hung up somewhere, but if it doesn't it should come tomorrow. Pretty sure. BTW, I was just kidding about the tent thing. :)

My obscene spending spree is almost over.

I've added the second drive carrier, a 7200 spin 320 gig seagate, 8 gigs of g.skill, a 4 gig class 6 sdram ram for readyboost , and my 80GB S25-M & qx9300 are in the mail.

The last item on the list (ummm, I think) is a fast BD-RW....

Does anyone have any suggestions on what is the best combo drive to buy for our machines?

Alright, so I know there's already a few posts on this, but I've not seen anything reasonably priced that looks good and works. Backpacks for the HDX 18t. Who here has found a winner? I can't do another "bag". I've had the HP ZD8000 for 4 yrs with a bag and it cuts off all circulation to my left arm. :) I need dual shoulder support for this baby.

I got the exact same thing today. I called and fedex and hp both said the same thing. Something about the paperwork not being right and hp having to send the proper paperwork from china to alaska. I was thinking to myself... Has anyone ever heard of a fax machine. But I didn't feel like arguing so I left it alone. We will see how long it takes...

Good news! I just called up FedEx and got put through to the international dept. - the woman there said that the packages have been cleared through customs, even though the tracking information hasn't been updated online yet. If you want to try it as well, the direct call number for FedEx international support is: 800-247-4747

    Hi,

I have been using the HDX 18t for a month now. Today I noticed that the left side palm rest was much warmer than the right side. It had been on for a few hours today. Though I have used it for long durations previously, I had not come across this before. Was wondering if any of you encountered something similar.

    Yes it is normal.
The left side palm rest is where the primary HDD is installed. This disk contains the Windows partition and therefore it is normally accessed more often than the second HDD.It gets even warmer when you use any other program that has frequent access on the HDD such as torrent, antivirus scanning or defragment.

Keep in mind that the HDD bays don't have any fan so there isn't any active cooling.

I need some help with the TV tuner. I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and I've scanned in about 33 channels. The channels don't show any program guide listings, and the recording options are grayed out. Also, their is nothing to select in audio options (in Media Smart TV).

Download and install the latest HP MediaSmart TV Software 2.20 B. The recording options are still greyed out. Hopefully this will be fixed at some point. My HDX picks up more stations with HP MediaSmart than it does with Media Center.

BTW, don't install the HP MediaSmart DVD Software if you do not want to lose the "play dvd" option in Windows Media Center. I don't know if this is a bug in HP's software or a ploy to force you to use HP MediaSmart to play DVDs.

Can someone help me with the drivers for XP for this computer? It is not easy (for me at least) to see what hardware I have in the computer at all. After all device manager shows 12 questionmarks and one additional "!" before "IDT High Definition Audio Codec" So I went looking for this audio and tried to install this:
    http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/HP-IDT-ID92HD71B7-Audio-Driver-5106087-0-Rev-B-Download-74823.html
After restart it doesn't get anywhere, still no audio. Everytime it says "Found new hardware, but I can't show it any driver as that driver comes in exe file and it seems corrupted, I don't know.
I have installed two things that I found on HP site (wireless assistant and something else) and graphics drivers. Everything else...
    A309
Audio Device on High definition bus
    Base System Device x 3
    Ethernet Controller
    HP Integrated module
    Network controller
PCI Data Acquisition and signal processing controller
    SM Bus Controller
Unknown Device (how am I supposed to find drivers for this?!)
    USB Device

If anyone has any idea for those, let me know please.

Well, I answered this one myself. I found an awesome free faxing service: http://www.myfax.com/free/ Even though it says there's a 9 page limit, I tested a 20 pg fax and it went through fine. There is a limit of 2 faxes per day, but it's per e-mail address, so if you have multiple email accounts, you're good to go!

So for my HP 5510 All-in-One that has no drivers for Vista, I've now figured out how to print, scan, and now fax! Guess HP won't make this customer do an upgrade he doesn't really need!
