I tried doing the same search I did originally on Live.com to find listings through Ebay for the Cashback program. I couldn't find any current listings on Ebay with the Live.com wiget thing. So maybe that promotion through EBay has ended.

Cruzin said: ↑I'm very "late to the party" coming across this Forum. I really appreciate all the contributions. I started reading from the first post and gave up around 2 hours into it and skipped up here to realtime. I ordered the HDX 18t from a Powerseller on Ebay using LiveSearch as well to take advantage of the Cashback of 200.00 through Paypal. After the Hp disc and the Live Cashback it ran me $ 1,668.00 inc shipping
What a deal. Couldn't resist. I ordered:
T9400 2.53 processor
4 gb ram
1 TB ( 550 x2) Hard drive
Blu-Ray Rom w/ Lightscribe DVD + R/RW
Geforce 9600M GT
Integrated TV Tuner
Can't wait to get the darn thing.... I also ordered a XB4 docking station from
BuyDig,com for 219.99 inc shipping.
I'm looking for an additional 8 cell battery for this thing but don't want to pay the 130.00 that HP is asking. Tried searching everywhere with no success.
Can anyone help with that one?
I'm looking for a neoprene sleeve to fit this sucka....but no luck either.
Thanks again for all the help and contributions, MarcClick to expand...
Well, I just ordered the (almost) exact same configuration from HP back on the 10th, using the (still working) 30% off coupon code NB3434, and got it for $1483. (T9400, 4GB. 1TB, extra battery, etc.). Code NB3434 expired today...
Seems like you could have gotten a better deal direct from HP??? And, if you were really brave you could have used the live.com HP Store code for 25% off (someone here has the link). Then, you're talking around $1100-1200 for the same config! CRAZY CHEAP! -
now..... You burst my joy bubble.....LOL
-
Don't feel too bad, the 30% off code expired today, so you would have had to order yesterday!

Yarseyer,
The ham radio programs I was referring to are for programming my UHF/VHF radios. (Kenwood THF-6A and Yaesu FT-8800R). I like being able to update the programming of the yaesu in my car for repeaters used on road trips. -
Mine has shipped!
Now I gotta pray that it doesn't have any bumps, nicks, or scratches...please dear God in Heaven. -

I think I saw a HDX18 at Fry's over the weekend. It was odd that they called it "X18", not "HDX18". It didn't even specify screen resolution and the desktop image looked stretched out. I did notice a lot of flex over the number pad while playing with it a bit. Can someone confirm if the flex is present in all HDX18 models?
I also saw the Sony AW model right next to it. I think I read somewhere that AW uses DDR3 for the 9600M while HDX uses DDR2. What's the difference in speed? Trying to make up my mind which one to get.
Thanks. -

I kinda figured so! After dealing with Ryan firsthand I didn't think he would be that generous again.

Question about RAM. My usage indicator is around 2-2.5GB and I have 3GB. Does this mean I don't need any more RAM. And if I do, should I go for 6GB?
Same question with processor utilization, if it doesn't get to 100% does it mean a faster processory will not be necessary?
I found out today, one of my programs that was taxing the system, when i turned Vista Aero Glass to Basic, the CPU utilization dropped by 40% FYI. -

So all it needs is the cable. HP offered to send me one, but it was going to take 30 days. I might just try and hook that up again.Click to expand...Click to expand... -

And vistabad I think I'm gonna order 2 hard drives too. However I am a bit concerned about the "bare" part of that Seagate drive. So that means there's no instructions? No guide or anything? Are they just offering it that way to cut costs and assuming that you know exactly what you're doing?
I've also gotta order 4G memory to replace the 3G that I ordered at the time.
And if anyone wants to buy the stock HP memory and hard drives let me know. -

He said they don't have a part number for it, and then when I tried to sort it out today, the guy said they can't send me one now. Meh.
There's a few places on line that specialise in SATA gear, so I might just send them a photo of the cable and see what they can do.Click to expand... -

Why do you need instructions anyways? It's plug and play...

Hey guys, I have a question about my 3GIG HDX18t.
How is it 3GIG's? Does one RAM have 2GIG's and the other is 1GIG?
Or are both of them 1.5GIG's? (which I never heard of) -
vistabad said: ↑How is it 3GIG's? Does one RAM have 2GIG's and the other is 1GIG?Click to expand...

no such thing as 1.5gb's, its a 2gb and 1gb stick since it has 2 dimm slots.
i ordered my hdx16 on the 10th and just got my tracking which says it will be here on the 21st before 10:30 am, when i ordered it said i should have it on the 20th, but 21st doesnt sound too bad. just hope no delays at the border happen -

And I guess I'll buy it and see how it works. Especially since it's cheaper and all.
My 18t is in transit. And I think if I like the look of the 18t that I'm just gonna forget about the Quad Core processor. Further on down the line I'm sure I'll buy another laptop (like 4 or 5 years later) and at that point the technology will probably be a lot better. -

I did buy an HP tablet last year because I was curious about tablet's and just wanted a new toy. The other laptops I have on my sig are from work so I didn't have to pay out of pocket for them.
I hope to make the HDX last at least 3 years. I'm not a hardcore gamer like I used to be so I won't have the hefty requirements of the latest and greatest GPU...
For everyday programming, photoshop, simple gaming and internet surfing, this HDX should last MORE than 3 years....
Depending on how the economy is, I may actually end up getting a workstation anyways with quad core for heavy duty gaming and video editing. I've always wanted to get into the video editing world just haven't had time to look into it...
But I feel the $1200 I paid for my HDX is more than fair enough to last 3 years. -

HP, you guys are sneaky! -
I think it has to do with how fast FedEx is. For instance I have Amazon Prime shipping, so I get guaranteed 2 day, but sometimes the item leaves from a warehouse near me so I get ground shipping, since it will still arrive in time. I think with the normal shipping and faster shipping with HP, in the end it takes FedEx the same amount of time. It's not really somethign I blame on HP.

I didn't order any special shipping. I'm not sure what's going on but everything seems to be shipping very fast lately....
Amazon even tried to get me to sign up for Prime Shipping as you mentioned but I don't really order that many books so I didn't sign up. Came fast anyways!!! -
I looked back on my other recent HP tracking info for past purchases, and EVERY TIME, my HP computer was delivered the NEXT DAY after it left Anchorage, AK. Regardless of FREE shipping or 2 day.
My 2nd HDX18t just left Anchorage today, so there is a VERY GOOD chance it will be delivered tomorrow.(even though it's estimated delivery date is 11/20).

With HP, it's really FedEx. HP will mark the package for the "faster" shipping method, but in the end, it takes fedEx the same time. -

You are probably right, I live very close to NYC so perhaps amazon has a warehouse there or near there. I would think they would since it's such a highly populated area....

Mines just departed Alaska! I think it will be here tomorrow. What do you guys think?
And lancorp the same thing happened with my mom's dv5t. They actually attempted to deliver it the day before I was expecting it and no one was there to get it which sucks.
