    Hey,

I sometimes experience a problem, when my inbuilt speakers in my monitor do not work.

But if I plug headfones into the socket, the sound is working perfectly, so it's clearly not my sound card?

I restart the notebook, and then played some music, which started playing with no bass, but then the bass sort of jerked back on, like you would expect with a loose connection?

    Anyone else faced this problem?

    Thanks,
    Stephen

Definitely seems like a loose connection. You can try to reinstall the driver.

But the way you describe it, it sounds like either a lose connection or worse, a bad amp section.

How can I get this sorted?

What's the support like in the UK? Would I be required to send in my notebook?

    Thanks

They say it's better than in the states. You would be required to send it in.

Before you do though , in case you feel inclined... here's the service manual:

    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01279508.pdf

See pages 41(speakers) and page68 subwoofer. Take not of where the connectors are relative to where they would be with the HDX fully assembled.. While playing a music file, tap the computer in the area about where those connectors are and see if it's just intermittent. Not too hard of a tap. Just enough to rattle things about. If you find that this is the problem and you feel brave enough, you can carefully disassemble the HDX to access those connectors and make them more sure.
