Hi, I've been looking at the HP notebook with 14.1" Brightview Widescreen, Dual Core and AMD Turion. Sorry I don't know the model #. Was curious if anyone owned one similar to this and are you pleased with its performance?

Also, I checked www.staples.com and www.tigerdirect.com and could not find this model available. I found the ad in a Circuit City sale flyer but I don't want to pay for it with a major credit card. Where can I purchase it - directly thru the HP website? Thanks, Greg

You need a credit card to purchase online at HP's website.

The model you are referring to is the HP Pavilion dv2000z. It has been reviewed at this website, and you can find the review here.

v3000z (Compaq) or dv2000z (HP) is what you're looking for. Yes, you can purchase through the HP website for a pretty good price. If you're a student, you can get an academic discount throught their APP program.

The review was helpful to read through, but I think that the model being reviewed did not have the Core Duo. The customizable one I want will have Core Duo, so although there are some down-sides in the review, I think that with the Core Duo I may not encounter those problems. I don't know for sure, but I'm hoping that will be the case. Greg

    Actually, you don't anymore.

HP's online store now accepts PayPal, so you can pay directly from your bank account, and not a credit card.

The Core Duo chip runs circles around the AMD dual cores, that's for sure.

I've got a dv2000 with Core Duo, and it's much more responsive than my friend's Compaq v3000z with an AMD dual core.
