Can someone help me to bring decision should I buy

    HP L2105:
    -AMD Turion 64 1.79 GHz, Cache 512MB L2, 1024MB at 333 MHz, HDD 80GB at 5400RPM, ATI X200M

    or

    HP DV4270
    - Pentium M 1.73 GHz, Cache 2MB L2, 1024MB at 533 MHz, HDD 100GB at 4200RPM, Intel GMA 900

I am planning to keep it for (at least) 4 years, and use it for browsing, digital pictures, MS Office. No gaming.
    Which one will be faster?

    I appreciate your help.

The L2000 looks like your best bet - the Turion is 64-bit enabled whereas the P-M is not. Also, the X200M will be compatable with Windows Vista, which will be comming out in around August of this year. The L2000 also sports a 5400 RPM drive, which will yield significantly better performance than a 4200 RPM one.

x200m is a much better video card. As mentioned the faster HDD will bring about great performance bonus and the Turion is fully comparable to Pentium M. L2000 will have a slightly shorter battery life - 2.5 - 3 hours max with 6 cell.
One more thing, ML Turions need to be undervolted. It's not a big deal but you may want to search the undervolting threads.

I dunno if the L2000 will be faster. Although the DV4000 has a slower drive, it has faster ram and a faster processor as well.
I remember a review here where a 1.86 ghz Pentium M beat a 2.0 ghz Turion ML in practically every benchmark.

The new HP dv5000z/Compaq V5000z are more directly comparable to the dv4000. Circuit City has two retail model dv5000z's listed on their website and they're already in some of their stores.

One of the better Turion vs. Pentium M comparisons:

In real-world use you're usually better off with the Turion and pretty much always at any given price point.

Neither computer will be faster for your purposes. Browsing and Office won't tax either system, and I'm not sure what you could do with digital pictures that would tax them either. For your stated purposes, it's a wash.

That said, I go with the recommendation of getting the Turion. The integrated ATI card is better than the Intel GMA, even though both are fine for your purposes; the AMD processor is 64-bit, and that doesn't matter a whit today, but in four years you might want to do something with it.

Going with the AMD processor model (be it the Lance special or the 5000z) will give you more room to grow.
