I have been using my dv5t for a week now and the only thing bugging me is that the display seems dimmer compared to other notebooks I have owned. I compared it side by side with my Gateway M-6881 and it seems brighter. Normally I would run my Gateway's brightness 2 steps down from full, while I have to run my HP at full brightness.

Compared side by side at full brightness the Gateway seems brighter and in general use too bright.

yeah, i noticed that hps are pretty dim.

My new system compared to my old one, i used to run the old one at 100% brightness, but my new custom built laptop i usualy have it at 30% and its bright enough 100% is almost blinding

I think its because most of the HP systems dont use LED backlights, the 6715b i used to own the brightness was i think 300 nits, on my new system is 650.

noticed that on my dv5t as well, its barely acceptable at 100% I would expect better from hp. I wonder if there is a way to increase the brightness

Yeah,I agree as well...and they should be ashamed of themselves for calling it a "Brightview" screen..
