Hey guys, just wondering. i had a HP Pavillion dv6904ca and had sent it in for repair 4 times cause of graphics failures all of which failed to fix the problem. recently i was given a case manager, and low and behold they say they would replace the laptop for me. They decide to give me and HP HDX 16-1140us as a replacement and they tell me i need to send the laptop in first and then once recieved they would send the new laptop. so far its been about a week and a half and still no new laptop. so my question is if anyone here had to go through hp case manager to replace laptop, how long did it take to receive the new one? I know it sounds like a dumb question but i need my laptop for school and cant go very long without it. Should i give them a call?

Yes give them a call. I personally have not replaced a laptop through a case manager but I did get a mouse replaced. I had to give them a call for a status because I thought it was taking longer than I anticipated and they informed me they had the item backordered. Again, just give them a call and they'll be able to provide you with a status. If necessary, explain your situation and you might get your item prioritized.

Usually, they send you the new item first and expect you to send it in after to reduce consumer downtime.

Ya for some reason they told me i had to send my laptop in first, before the replacement could be release and shipped. i dont mind actually sending my laptop first its just thatit is taking too long for them to ship the replacement. i also called but no one answered. Not surprising i may say. i may just call them first thing monday morning.

Give it a couple of weeks. They have to receive the unit first and counting transit time it might take a while. Supposedly you're suppose to get the new laptop then send in the old one but according to lots of threads people aren't sending in the old one. I guess HP is getting wise.

DO NOT just sit and wait. CALL THEM and MAKE SURE everything is in motion and that your laptop is on it's way to you. Get on their case and make sure the process is expedited.

I had a long experience with these case managers and mine made several mistakes including sending me a replacement with the wrong specs TWICE lol.

I wish you had posted here first as anyone would have told you to have them send your replacement to you before you return the old one. And to the poster above, if you fail to send your old one back THEY WILL send you a bill and you will be liable.

ps, congratulations on your new notebook. MUCH better processor, better GPU, more memory, bigger HDD, AGN+bluetooth... you won.

Ya i am gonna start calling and making sure everything is going well. I tried today but no one answered, it was around 4 30 when i called. for sure monday and throughout next week ill be calling to get the status.

And ya i did win. didn't think they were going to give me an HDX 16. didnt come to my mind, thought that they were going to give me a dv5 or sumthing similar. only reason i think they gave me an HDX as a replacement was because my case manager. If your nice to your case manager, they are always gonna be nice to you.

i have to say that HP even though they are stupid when it comes to their technical support team. when it come to replacing your laptop, they really hook you up with the good stuff. well, at least in my case.

Hey guys so i got my new HDX 16-1140us on May 5. it was working perfectly fine. that was until i found there was a defect in it. turns out the HP logo on the screen that lights up was broken and was pushing against the screen from the back. so i called and they are replacing it for a second time but this time with a HDX 16-1160us (cause they were out of stock in the 1140us). kinda sucks cause i need my laptop... and only had the new one for a day. But on the bright side i got an upgrade in ram from 4 to 6GB.

Quick question, is there any benefits in having 6GB rather than 4GB? will there be better performance for a dual core 2.4 GHz processor?

It really depends on what you'll be doing. I HIGHLY doubt that you'll notice any performance gains.

When it gets down to it, the processor would be a bottleneck.
