I can't seem to find the right combo of features with HP, please tell me if I'm missing any models that might fit:

    Core Duo processor
Either 15.4 or 17 inch screen, either would be fine, but:
    Greater than 1280 x 800 resolution! (otherwise I'd get the 6565 or 6585 model)
    Dedicated video card
    Less than $1700 Canadian

I can do this easily with Dell 1520, but I don't want one. I also like the Asus gaming laptops, but they are $2000+

    help!

The DV9500T will have all those specs available CTO, certainly. However, you may have to budget other options to meet your pricepoint.

Take a look at the HP business notebooks, many more options available (better video cards, higher screen resolutions, etc).

But, the business models may still be in that budget and offer more options. At the very least, worth a look for sure.
