Actually yes, I have encountered this problem. I thought it was just wear and tear, with the locking device. But now apparently this is an issue that many people are experiencing.

Does anyone know if this crack affects the use of the notebook lock?
And is this problem worth fretting over?

I should also mention I have a DV6000 model, something you might want to include in your title.

The mentioned website refers to all DV6000 & DV9000 models.

I have the same problem on my DV9000t. I'm probably going to fix it myself once I find the time.

As for the people with th DV9500, I think HP ironed out the problem when they rolled out that particular model.

It happened with my dv9000. HP fixed it free of charge (under warranty).

Just go to the website shown in the previous post. Read the user's posts. It will tell you all about the problems lots of people are experiencing.

    Update----

Hp has sent me a box to have my DV9060 repaired under warranty ----- “unless the technicians suspect abuse” lol. I will post an update on how they handled the repair and how long it took. I am a bit apprehensive about sending it in with all of the horror stories that have been posted about people getting their laptops back with a lot of new scratches.

Make sure you back up your HD's data before you send the laptop off!
