This is the only review that I have found on this model. As it is from Cnet read it with a grain of salt so to speak.

If you do a search for nc6400 on this site you should find a question from myself on this review and it answered several questions.

    Good luck!

I noticed that the NC6400 has a WXGA+ LCD, what kind of resolution is that? BTW, I was trying to customize the NC6400 but for some reason after I clicked on the button, it didn't give me any options to customize it, only to buy extra stuff.

WXGA+ is 1280x800 screen resolution. I have that on my lappy and it is plenty for my needs. To me, anything bigger is too small but some people like bigger as well. HP typically does not allow for much customizing of their business laptops. If you can't find the configuration you want already there you might be able to (for example) add RAM on your own after you purchase. Also, I have heard of people being able to call HP and they will customize it if you request it over the phone but that may or may not work. Anyway, good luck!

What's the difference between WXGA and WXGA+? HP got that options under their LCD but when I tried to customize it, it doesn't have that option. I'll wait and see if the W7J fits my need and budget, otherwise, I'll have to go with the Hp. Thanks

    Their resolutions are different:
    WXGA is 1280x800
    WXGA+ is 1440 x 900

    The screens are otherwise identical.

    Cheers,
    Tommi

The laptops can be configured with WXGA+ screens, but none of the pre-configured models have it. It seems that it takes a little while for HP to make customizable models available; only the older models are customizable right now. (For instance, the nc6220 and nc6230, very similar but not Core Duo and not widescreen, are available in customizable versions.) Once it is customizable, you'll be able to get a WXGA+ screen, or maybe they'll start offering a configured model with wth WXGA+.

    (I'm writing this on a nc6220 with a XGA+ screen, 1400x1050.)

On HP's website if you click to just buy the notebook and don't select any specifc pre-configured model--the notebook it very configurable. In fact, it's one of the very few WXGA+, 128mb dedicated video, business class notebooks I have found. I was going to buy a lenovo z61m, but didn't really want a screen so large. This seems to be a good alternative.
