Hello again guys. My assumption is that the NC4400 that I posted yesterday was not a good idea, so I did some more searching and came up with this.

It is an off-lease "professionally tested and cleaned" HP NC8230. It's got a Pentium M at 2 GHz, 1GB RAM, and a 60GB HD. The battery is not guaranteed, but it has a warranty till August 08.It has a WSXGA+ 15.4" display. It comes with a ton of bloatware, so I'll probably reformat it when/if I get it...

The price is $525 shipped. What do you HP experts think? Thanks :)

Well, either I wait and get an actually good laptop or rush and get one of these 'low-barrel' models now. I am super impatient so I'd prefer now. :)

The thing is you can get a low end new machine for just about the same price and it will be much better than that old hardware.

You can easily get a dual core with 1gb of ram and a bigger hdd (granted not with the high res screen) for around the same price and it will be new.

I'm a fan of high res displays, and I am looking for a business laptop. They sport superior build quality...

For such outdated hardware, it's not really. 600 bux will get you a similar dual core brand new machine that will spank that one.

I wish the nc8430s would hurry up and drop - they keep thier value too well :)

What is an example of a dual core business notebook that can be used for gaming in the same price range?

You're not gonna find a business & gaming computer for that price. You can get a regular low-end laptop for $600.
