    Hi,
I have a HP zv6000 CTO laptop. A week ago, my network cable stopped clipping in the network card like it should. Has this happened to anyone? I am not sure if a part that clips it in fell out. It has an empty space where the cable's tab would normally snap into. Does anyone have any ideas of what is going on here? I have tried two network cables, so I am fairly sure that it is not the cable. In addition, my lightscribe DVD burner will only burn at 2.4x. I am using Memorex 8x DVD+R's. Does anyone else have his problem? It does not bother me much, but I am curious.

    Thanks for your time,
    Austin

Sounds like you broke off the clip on each of the RJ-45 connectors, or weakened them so they don't "clip". I doubt its your laptop, check the burn options of the software you are using...

there is this option called superlink, I believe it auto detects the max burning speed of your dvd, try a different disk. also, sounds like your clip broke off your patch cable, get a new one.

I know it is not the network cable because I have 2 brand new ones. Also, I go from my laptop, to a network protected surge protector, out from it to a netork jack in the wall. Both ends both the network cables all clip fine in everything but my laptop. I will try some new discs for my burner soon. Any more ideas? I might have to call HP...but I hate tech support.

Superlink is for buffer underrun errors. If for some reason the data stream is interrupted or slowed, it slows the burning process so the burn doesn't fail. There are good and bad reps at all companies if you try back maybe you'll get a better one.

My god thats a lot of unnessary stuff... Well if you claim it is not hte cable, then is there somthing stuck in the jack on the laptop? This is one of those situations where we need to actually see it, it could be anything. Heh take a detailed picture =P

Nooooooooooooooooooo, don't waste your time! They will just cut and paste the info in the FAQ/Troubleshooting files off their website. However, if you feel the need to be spoon fed have at it...

I will have to take a picture of it. I won't have my camera back for a few days, so as soon as I get it I will post them.
