I have a HP6833us notebook with phoenix Bios version F.52. on HP.com they offer a bios version F.3D. Is it more to update than F.52?

My notebook keeps turning on and off the fan, usually if I start a program. I use core-temp and it's around 40-50'c. Is this normal?

    Should I update my bios?

Run HP Update and let it tell you if you should update the BIOS. If it offers it, update.

Yes, the fan will cycle on and off based on internal processor temps. The newer BIOS will run the fan at a low speed all the time and this often prevents the jumps to high fan speed (unless you are really running the processor and then it will kick in just like before).
