Does anyone know if you can use this stand WITHOUT the dock. I have the dock and could use it at home but I was thinking of putting it inside my laptop bag for times when am away from home and don't have the dock with me. Thanks.

Don't kill me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain that it would since it has those two stoppers at the front of the stand.
Don't forget that is only for the business model notebooks. If you have one of the pavilion consumer models you need to look at the xb2000 or xb3000 docking station (depending on what computer you own). -

Give me the weekend and I'll get back to you on that one...I have the monitor stand that uses the same posts/tab scheme and I'll see if it would be a problem.
Can you wait that long? -
is it just me, or is that link you gave in your first post dead?

Link fixed.... -
The link works -
now it works
cool stand! -
For those who are interested.... The stand is very solid and has some weight to it, definitely not for traveling like in your notebook bag like I was planning.
The stand was designed for use with a docking station but you could use it by itself although it sits on top of the tabs and doesn't lock in anywhere like the docking station does. Now there is a possibility that with the 8 cell extended battery that it will raise the notebook enough that it clears those little tabs.
It's very nice if you hate starring down at the screen, it's also adjustable to different heights and has some really good no slip rubber feet.
I got mine on ebay for $30 there $70 at HP. Overall nice durable, high quality stand. -
wow only $30! hey can u give me a link or something!

I just got my HP Monitor Stand...I'll post back shortly on how well it fits.
EDIT: It fits fairly well. Of the three docking station posts on the stand two of them are in contact with the bottom of the notebook and lift it up just a little more so there is no problem in using the stand without the dock. The only thing is that without the docking station anchored to the stand, and the notebook to the dock, my notebook ever so slightly could be budged/titled to the left or right. It won't happen for you unless you did something drastic like physically bumping up (hard) against the notebook (as if you didn't know it was there and ran into it). Otherwise, you're fine.
Sorry it took so long, but my shipment was late.
EDIT (Again): Wow...this stand is cool. I really like the extra height here... -
thanks for that link, but it is not $30, its $50 because of the huge $20 shipping fee.... Thanks anyways...
