Anybody have some good information on the fan and disk noise levels of the new HP notebooks. Any links to surveys where they have been tested would be appreciated.

    Wich models?
I just bought an NC8430, and after using "Notebook Hardware control", I was able to get my voltage down to .9625 while running full speed. The fans are at 20% speed, and it's really quite. Even at full laod, the fans only go up to 35% because the cpu doesn't go above 70C

I have the dv9000t, one of the juicier models in terms of hardware. With dual hard drives, a Core 2 T5600, and a Go7600, I have only maxed out the fans twice, both of which were when I was playing FEAR, and that was without a cooler.
All in all, I was VERY impressed by how quiet this notebook is, on average, my fans can barely be heard over my typing if I have it sitting on a typical surface with no cooler.

How can you tell that your fan is at 20% speed?

Because NHC allows you to set the speed of the fans at various temperatures.

This is great information, guys. Thanks. Does anybody know of any testing that has been done on the actual noise levels of available laptops (i.e. dbs of sound at rest and at max cpu usage)?
