Will HP offer a new series of Notebooks this year? Specifically 17 inch? I am assuming the 18 inch HDX and 16 inch HDX will be just getting spec upgrades.

    Thanks for any replies!

some very attractive upgrades are coming.. dv6t & dv7t already have optional mobility radeon 4650 cards, and this will spread among many other models, too. after a "test"-phase the 4xxx cards are also gonna be available on business notebooks.
im already looking forward to a 8530p series with a 46xx (or higher!!!) card! :D http://blogs.amd.com/play/2009/02/25/the-biggest-graphics-question-of-2009/ says everything.. forget everything below 46xx, for gaming.

i just hope they dont stick with 1-2 cards for all suitable models, but also offer better cards, like mobility 48xx series. then HP could compete with the real gaming notebook manufacturers since only the gfx make the real difference now, and i think it would be profitable for HP ;) and NOW is the time to offer & buy ATI's 4-series cards, not when the 5-series are already being launched..

I do have a few "assumptions" on what to expect in general, but would like to hear any others opinions on what to expect in 2009 for HP laptops.

From my experience in the past few years, the month of May always seems to be the time when a new line is introduced. Some things I would expect to be coming are slight increases in processor speed (but not sure), and maybe Graphics card and the like.

Also, as was anounced earlier in the year, HP will be putting in their laptops the newer, better battery technology that will give it a longer life before decreasing in performance (3 years compared to the current 1) and possibly better usage and recharge times. Apple has already put this into one of their laptops.

One other thing to note the last I heard, is starting June 1st 2009, when you buy a computer with Windows Vista, you get a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it comes out. Though maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
