Thinking of totally ordering one of these and maxing it out! My last HP product was my HDX 9000 completely maxed and noticed over the years HP lacked anything in the gaming lineup. Booyah!

What do you mean, "maxing it out"? You can't change/upgrade this laptop at all after ordering it. Lol.

Lol that's what I mean specing it out! Only odd thing is you can save $30 bucks if you customize the cheaper one and maxing out all the hardware options hah.

Hi! I was wondering if you think that the Omen line would not be updated at all in the coming few months (in 2015)? I'm looking to get one from the US into India. I've been told by HP people that they plan to launch it soon, maybe around October, but at least in 2015 itself. And since they have an international warranty, I'm good as long as the parts remain the same. So, GPU, as you say is unlikely to be changed. Any chance for them to upgrade their line with Broadwells/Skylakes in the next 6 months? Obviously, I'll be taking a chance with it, I just want to get some reassurance :D

GUYS! 1 hour back, HP website updated. THE OMEN IS HERE! :D :D :D :D
A little pricey, bit who cares. GETTING THIS ASAP.
It's for 160,000 ($2500). Has the 960m, 4720, 8GB, 256GB PCIe. It has the 4GB version, which sucks kind of, since I do not need it and it's only going to drive up the cost. But again, who cares. Though HP has been smart about it. Indian people usually are not aware of how GPUs work. They're like, damn, 4gb graphics card, must be awesome. I got a lot of flak for buying a 1.5GB 555m card instead of a 2GB version of 525m/540m by my friends lol

160K for an Omen sure looks high. But anyways, try to get a 860m version. One might get a very good discount in same - that too with 16gb ram version..

Just received my HP Omen, 860m version.. Immediate reaction is the FAN NOISE.. It is actually quite noisy, louder than I expected.. Any ways to reduce / fix this? The fans seem to be always on even though I've already disabled the 'Fan always on' option from the startup menu.. The fan level in Omen control is set to 'Normal' (other two options are 'Faster' and 'Maximum')..

Fans seem to ramp up even when only using the laptop in a normal, non-demanding working way.. It's quite audible.. Also the rear exhaust vent lights are always on (which I think it should not be, only in high demanding situations?).. Have not even tried gaming on it yet..

I'm using the HP recommended power plan..

I tried the Fn +F combo as well.. This increased the noise level to a maximum..

Any ideas? Software updates, settings etc. that I need to be aware of? Pls help.. Any assistance / opinions would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks

    What's your BIOS version?

Sounds like your fans are running faster than they should. Download HWiNFO64 and let us know what your temps are too.

My fan LEDs only come on when my fans ramp up a good bit during demanding stuff like gaming. I've never noticed them being on when not gaming.
