    Hello,

I am considering shunt modding the HP Omen 15 2021. I had seen several posts where this was able to eke out a significant performance gain, including some excellent posts by @seanwee , and would like to see the same improvements with an HP Omen 15, and wanted to ask some questions to the experts.

    1. Where in the HP Omen's MB is the shunt mod? Please see a link to the MB here.
    2. Instead of a resistor, I am planning on using a silver paint - scraping off the conformal coating and painting the top of the resistor, if I can find it. I have heard that the silver paint, with sufficient thickness, gives 15 mOhms and thus can act as a shunt resistor without going through soldering. Also, it's reversible right (using alcohol)? Is this a safe way to shunt mod?
    3. I have a modded nvflash that will let me flash the full watt vBIOS for 3070 on the Omen 15 2021. Will I see benefits in shunt modding a laptop that already has a full watt vBIOS? I think I will, given that there still is significant improvement on 3090's that also had full watt vBIOS flashes. At a minimum, it should allow the CPU to boost to full as well, netting more performance.
    Thank you for your help!

What tdp is the "full wattage vbios". And what was the stock tdp of the omen?

The motherboard picture you linked is insufficient. I need to know what vrms and how many are being used to supply power the gpu so the heatsink needs to be taken off.

The shunt mod god himself! Thank you so much.

The stock TDP is 100w (80w+20w dynamic boost). The full wattage vbios is 140w (115+25 or 125+15 dynamic boost).

Here is another image of the MB, with the heat sink pulled off. There are 8 VRAMs total for 8GB.

:( may I ask if there is anyone who can help on this issue? I guess if it's hard to find them, just some hints on what to look for to find the shunt mods on the laptop motherboards would be great too...

Sorry for the slow reponse, I've been very busy this week. The gpu vrms "should" be adequate, it looks like a 7 phase but i dont know what vrms its using precisely. A clear picture of the printings on top of the vrms would be great.

As for the shunt resistors, look for two R005 resistors in close proximity to each other and it should be located near the gpu vrms. Do not hesitate to send pictures if you're not sure if the ones you find are the correct shunts.

Oh, I'm sorry - I didn't know you were busy - please don't worry about this! I'm also waiting for silver paste directly from aliexpress so it will be a bit until they arrive. Thank you - I will look for the R005 resistors again when I can take off the heat sinks further, and definitely check with you. I really appreciate your help.
