Hello all
Has anybody of you the new 2017 HP Omen 17 laptop with the UHD 4K panel and the i7-7700HQ?
If yes, which display panel is built in?
You can check this by going into Device Manager, open Monitors, double click on the shown monitor (probably some Plug&Play device), switch to the tab Details and there select Hardware IDs and copy that information here.
Thanks
pato

B173ZAN01.1 4K UHD 17.3" 95% Adobe RGB / 99% sRGB / 60Hz / Response time 25-30ms GTG / support eDP adaptive sync (G-sync)
This is the same model used in many other 17.3" 4K devices -
Oh ok, that means they have a new panel inside. The old one was a AUO119B....
Darn, that means I need to read more reviews.

Thanks for your reply before, one more question, does it support G-Sync?Last edited: May 2, 2017 -
Note to myself: the service manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05350442

Bought the device and setting it up now.
The screen is indeed the AUO119B. -
Made a display calibration profile.
7200K at 100% brightness sRGB (please note, typical photo editing is at 6500K, but I don't like yellow whites).Attached Files:

Is there any good 17 inch laptop with wide viewing angle on a budget

There are some nice Asus models, but not with such nice displays for a budget price. Also MSI has some interesting models. If you don't really need to game, make sure the display is IPS technology. It's not as fast responding as a TN, but offers much better colors (typically). Also IPS has a wide viewing, while TN doesn't. Avoid TN at all costs for wide viewing angle.

yes am aware of that.... I need either HP or Dell. Not really into ASUS -
Ok, then better open a new thread in the general laptop area.
Anyway, I'm happy with the 4k screen on my HP Omen. -
I am thinking of buying the hp 17 inch with ips display laptops. However I am I sure if all ips are better than TN display or are there variations in ips screen quality

Part number/model is an AUO119B (not sure which tool I could use to read out more info). Not sure if the screenshot will help you much while it's in motion, do you have any specific game in mind?

Here you go, I've chosen a green background for you.
Order is: from left, right, top and bottom. The shadows you see are mostly from the not uniform lightning in my living room, not from the laptop screenThe uniformity is quite good, it does have a little clouding at maximum brightness with a black background.

Can't comment on the 6700 model, but it's no issue with the 7700 model (if you mean temp wise).
-
i think most recenty; released cpus dont really have issues with temps?
-
what do u think of the laptop i bought? -
Hard to comment on your screen, it really depends on your happiness. I personally don't like shining screens so much, but the colors usually do look a little nicer on them.

after calibration this is how it looks like........

Hard to say if it's correct or not on an internet image
The calibration log would shed more light on this. But yeah, most important is that you are happy -

Just have a question about the New Omens that are/have been released, would you recommend Omen Brand for pure gaming laptop for its price?
Just was on the US HP Store as you can customize it there, compared to where I live in the UK.
Or would you recommend something from Acer Predator https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/predator-model/NH.Q1EAA.003
Or from MSI or asus etc..

I would get a larger SSD for primary drive. But that my preference as I have hundreds of programs on my laptop. Mostly work related and video editing programs.

why don't u wait for the 9 core version intel or the AMD ryzen laptop??? i think since laptops do not have much upgradability, u may as well get one which is insanely powerful to last a long time for games ...
as for me i bought a relatively mid range one for some video encoding for YouTube and to run some daily small scale programs ...
