    Hi all,
I am new to notebooks and am having a difficult time trying to find out what CDRW drives are compatible with this notebook (Omnibook XE3) How do I know if a certain CDRW is compatible with this case. Do they go by form factors like desktop PC's? Where should I go to find out this information if I am trying to buy a CD burner off the net?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Panas1,

The Omnibook XE3 is an older unit made by HP, I don't think you can get a CDRW drive for this unit to be installed internally. Unless you're trying to get an external USB model, if this model has USB ports, then I would probably recommend getting one of the slower CDRW drives. If it's too fast, the USB port may not be able to keep up with the data transfer and you may waste CD's.
If an internal model is definately the way you're looking to go, I think any older/slower ATAPI CDRW drive for notebooks will work, but you'll have to take apart the CD-ROM that is already there and insert the drive in its place.
Try at your own risk, I don't know if this will even work. I would recommend getting and external CDRW drive, either USB or PCMCIA.
