Is there an HP owner satisfaction survery anywhere?

I can barely believe I am considering an HP.

They have burned me so many times on printers... but my God everywhere I turn there are people LOVING the HP laptops so... I gotta consider em right?

    RIGHT!?

    (sigh)

I haven't had any major hiccups with HP printers... Some cartridge problems here and there but nothing serious.

Imo, the only thing that is bad about HP is their quality control. If you buy a HP it'll either last you a lifetime or crap out in the first few weeks. But it's the same poor quality control that got me a dv9750ed for $300, so i'm not complaining. Just keep in mind to remove the bloatware they install and you'll be fine...

As far as build quality goes i'm satisfied. I accidentally kicked my DV5 off the bed once when it was open. Although i kicked the LCD and the thing came tumbling down and one second later it was on the floor having closed by itself, nothing bad happened. If that was my old Toshiba Portege i'd be looking at the 3rd cracked screen.

The only thing that's annoying me is that they are way too glossy and need to be cleaned every couple days so they don't look like crap. Other than that it's all good.

My gf and I both have HP laptops, both of them have crapped out. Her's crapped out about 9 months after she purchased it. Mine crapped out 41 days after the warranty expired. Personally, I wouldn't buy or recommend an HP to anyone.

    hmm.

Did either of them have an Nvidia GPU? That timescale being either a couple of months before or couple weeks after the warranty expires is typically when the Nvidia 8-series GPUs die.

Can't blame HP for the GPU dying.... if they didn't replace or fix it, you can blame them for that.

    I have a dv9700CTO that I bought in February 2008.
For the last two months, once in a while the screen turns pink. If I slightly move the screen it disappears. It makes me thinking that the hinges might pinched some cables from the screen :( .
Do you think I will bother calling the lousy HP customer service  ?
Since the late eighties I had several HP computers (desktops and laptops) and printers.
I have decided that enough is enough  .
HP is obviously a very successful business but I have dicovered there is life besides HP, its Customer Service and...............Dell!
My GF likes very much the Sony Vaio computers. She had several of them and she does not want to change for another brand.
After performing a clean install on the Vaio I offered her last year I must say I am impressed by the quality, the solidity of the product :) .
Granted, Sony is not inexpensive to the contrary but I am ready to pay more to get more satisfaction :p .
