    Well I dont own one personally but had one for three days so did a little playing around with it.

    I bought the TX-1205us and they are all basically the same so....

    The hard drive is more like 100gb if you ask me its supposed to be 160gb and a good 30+gb is taken up initially.

    Its super quiet, it doesnt run hot at all.

    The screen is bright and crisp.

    Trust me its just as good on paper as in real life.

    ULTRA-portable with all the features of the DV-6000 series but more portable.

    To turn the screen can be a little difficult as the hinge is very stiff.

    After playing around with it for three days I give it a 8.7/10.

    Little nice additions:

    * More video ram (Different card right?)
    * 4 gb memory ceiling
    * Wireless N

    But it gained 1/2 pound & still no firewire :(

    I had it for couple months before I return to Costco. I like the small size, but after a while 12.1" is really "too small". It does run hot. Not to a degree of burning yourself, but it's the wamest laptop I have ever used, compare to 700m, 1405 and 1420. It's a quiet laptop, the fan is not loud even when it's running most of the time. The battery life sucks... 4 cell probably last you 60-90 minutes on regular usage. I figured that if i put in 6 cell battery, it weights similar to a Dell 1420, but 1420 gives you 14.1" screen, firewire, and much longer battery life. And it was cheaper... However, if I were to travel a lot, I still think tx1000z is a great choice, but not the best choice for my need.

    I use it everyday when I am teaching a class. It makes presentations a breeze. When it runs on battery it never runs hot and it is ultra quiet. When it runs on ac power it does get warm sometimes but nothing too bad. I usually hold it on my lap for 2-3 hours at a time with no problems. I maxed out the ram (4 gb) and it is really flying. In a few words, it is the best laptop that I ever had and believe me between myself and the laptops that my department gave me I owned a lot of them these past ten years. (usually 2 per year).

    My wife bought one in September. Performance is poor and it runs very hot to the point of burning. I do not recommend this laptop.

    How anyone can say the heat is acceptable must not be pushing the performance envelope. My wife likes to play games and when she's playing, the laptop gets too hot within an hour.
