I've got an HP Pavilion DV2416US (of the Pavilion DV2000 series). This came preloaded with Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I'm interested in doing a full reformat and installing XP Pro 64-bit (processor is a 64x2 Turion 1.8GHz). Has anyone done this, or can anyone help me with this? I am by no means computer-savvy.

Thank you car. I didn't even think about looking for the drivers there. If anyone can help me out with what I need to do at this point, i.e. where can I find XP 64 (with a key so that I can maintain updates) + how to load that onto my laptop, and get this garbage called Vista off for good...?

No one is going to give you a legitimate key for windows xp so that you can load it onto your laptop

What you would want to do IF you already have a windows xp key, and don't want to bother with slipstreaming sata drivers using nlite, is to turn off native sata support in your bios before installing windows xp.

you also might want to download all the drivers from the hp website, and burn them onto a disk since your laptop will not work correctly or connect to the internet once you've done a full reformat.

doing a search on google will result in keys that will work but will FAIL the windows update check

Please don't paste in Windows Keys on this forum, it is against the rules and you can be banned from the forums. They will probably close this post soon or delete it as soon as a moderator sees it. If I were you MegaMan X I would deleted those CD keys you posted.

If you want to install a OS on your computer you must buy a legitimate copy. Please don't post anything illegal on this forum and nothing about the exchange or where to find CD keys.

I didn't mean to try to get illegitimate keys, just where can I find Windows x64 legitimately considering all the stores now have Vista and I haven't seen any version of XP (other than Home) in stores. I'm currently in the process of backing up all of my data and next I will be downloading the drivers for my laptop for use with x64 onto a flash drive.

Figured since my processor is an AMD Turion 64x2, a 64-bit OS would be ideal? Am I incorrect? I'm not sure if I mentioned this in any of my earlier posts, but I'm not exactly considered "tech-savvy," so any help/advice/corrections would greatly be appreciated.

XP 64-bit is almost a complete waste in my opinion because there isn't a lot of driver support and it does a poor job at backwards compatibility with 32-bit programs. Vista 64-bit does a lot better job with backwards compatibility than XP does. Also, there is more driver support for Vista 64-bit as well.
