Not much except for the processor. The dv2745se comes with the 2.0GHz Turion X2 TL 60 while the dv2740se comes with the 2.1GHz Turion X2 TL 62. Just go with whatevers cheaper. The 0.1GHz in clock speed isnt going to make much difference in performance.

I have the dv2740se - I got it, because with a rebate, it turns out to be cheaper than what Best Buy is selling the dv2745se for. Cheaper and a slightly (very slightly) faster processor.

    I just ordered a DV2740SE(KC448UA) from Newegg here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834147551

From the pics Newegg provides, the machine appears to share the same silver/black scheme of the DV2700, which is what HP's site shows. I've looked at a couple different vendors and some show the DV2740SE with the bronze colored "Verve" livery. I know that the DV2745SE is bronze. I just wanted to know if any of you guys here know what DV2740SE actually comes in. jong81, I see that you own one and your avatar shows a DV2xxx in Bronze, so is it safe for me to assume that mine will be the same? Thanks in advance...

As far as I know it will have the Verve colour scheme bronzey look. As the SE at the end of the model number stands for special edition and the Verve effect is what the special edition has on the dv2700 series.

Well, I paid $870 after rebate. But then I complained to Amazon about a dead pixel and they took another $184 off, so really I paid $686. No tax - no shipping. I see it at Best Buy right now for $1050 - it just went up everywhere. Make sure you look for the $50 rebate and check that you qualify at the place you're purchasing it. Go to Amazon.com and check it out:

    http://www.amazon.com/Pavilion-DV27...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1202832821&sr=8-1
(You'll notice I wrote the only review there ... lol)

    AND HERE'S the $50 REBATE:

    http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/00/00/01/14/05/45/114054510._V825324_.pdf

On Amazon, it's listed at $920 right now and then there's the $50 rebate. I saw it on new egg when I bought it and it was more expensive.

NOTE: Check the stores on the rebate - certain places like Best Buy DO NOT QUALIFY!!!

YES - It will be bronze, but it sort of looks more like a gun metal color. By the way - if you're gonna buy the VX nano mouse by logitech, DO NOT put the receiver in the left USB port - it's designed weird and will get stuck permanently.

I have a VX nano that I intend to use on my dv2700se when it arrives soon, but from reading the NBR review of the dv2700 there are only 2 USB ports and both on the right side as it has HDMI. Or is there really one USB on either side of the dv2700 with HDMI?

My guess is that the HDMI will take the place of the USB port on the LEFT side that caused me so much trouble. My dv2740se has 3 USB ports - one on the left and two on the right.

Anyway - didn't you get yours with Bluetooth? Why don't you just get a bluetooth mouse? How much did you pay for the VX Nano? I saw it at Best Buy for $99, but people don't realize it's on Amazon for $52, free shipping, brand new:

    http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Cord...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1202835081&sr=8-1

It's a good mouse - but the receiver goes in WAY too tight to begin with and I have NO IDEA why there are square holes on the left and right side - I've never seen a MALE USB connector that looked like that! They're just asking for it to get stuck in there.

Let me know what you think when you get it.

Great, hopefully I won't have any issues with it, although I must admit I will probably rarely use it as i'm not often at a desk.

I actually got it stuck in my dell xps 420 desktop before I sent it (the desktop) back for a refund (not because of that!). It took me 5minutes to claw it out very slowly, I was really lucky the plastic bit on the end didn't snap off. Then when I put it in another of the USB ports it came out easy, so I guess it's just random with certain USB ports

I live in the UK so I bought my vx nano from amazon UK for £38 or 76$, we get ripped off for all our electricals though

I decided not to get bluetooth because the mouse was bright blue (logitech) and I wanted a black one. I also disable bluetooth most of the time and only enable it to connect my phone when I need to and seeing as it has such a small reciever I didn't see the reciever being an issue.

Groovy. Yeah - I hade been wondering why there aren't many bluetooth mice out yet, but at other forums, people mention them being slow.

This happens with games too. For instance, light guns for shooting games are usually not wireless bluetooth, because the response time would be delayed. So annoying - also leads me to believe that there will be a new version of bluetooth eventually that speeds it up, meaning everything else will be obsolete - such is the world of electronics.
