hello guys, i just got my hp pavilion dv4007AP with 6cell battery, i was wondering why its battery meter at the system tray is not consistent, the remaining time left changes very fast then later on it would go up again, and at 50% it says i've got 1:06 hours left? i've seen in reviews that this notebook should have at least 3 - 3 and a half hours battery life, but mine seems to be a little more than two hours only, any help what i can do? btw im just doing simple tasks on my pc, watching movie, or surfing the web.

another thing is, if i always leave the charger connected to my laptop, will it kill its battery if i left it over charged lets say for a day? forgive me for this dumb questions since this is my first notebook.

If you are running the screen at maximum brightness that will shorthen the battery life. It will stop charging once it hits 100%.

Press the Fn key and either F7 or F8 to increase or decrease screen brightness.

Another thing you need to understand is that the amount of time remaining, as it says on your laptop, is just a simple calculation done by the computer using the current rate of power consumption of the battery divided by the amount of charge you have left in your battery. Therefore, when you move from one activity to another (ie from browsing the web to watching a DVD), the amount of time remaining will change because the rate of power consumption of the battery is changing. You can expect rather large fluctuations. On my ThinkPad, I can easily go from (on a full charge) a maximum of well over 5 hours (word processing, hard drive off, screen to minimum brightness, fan off) down to probably a little over two (watching DVD, full screen brightness, fan on), all on the same amount of charge.

    Hope that makes sense.

hello friends, i have a query again, how does a 6 cell lithium-ion battery differ from a 43Whr 6-cell Lithium-Ion battery? coz i see some catalog of hp dv4000 doesnt indicate 43whr on their batteries, mine is a 43whr. which is better?

I'd get the 12 cell which I think they offer on the v4000.
