Hi, just got my first laptop. Upon opening this gorgeous beauty, I find the "del" button is not flat, and laying on an angle. Upon further investigation, it seems like an object was stuck beneath the button, forcing it on an angle. I just took the "del" button off, and to my surprise, a small black screw fell out. I replaced the "del" button, which was now level with the rest of the keyboard, and functioning properly. I have checked all the extrenal comparments for any missing screw, to which there arent any. Does anyone know where else this missing screw might have originated from?

Lol,that is indeed pretty odd. Well if you can't see any screw missing,I presume it might have been stuck during assembly or packaging. Just keep it safe - you may have a need for it soon.

LOL! Someone rebuilt your computer and had left over parts! :D

The build quality on HP notebooks is usually pretty good so your experience is a bit unusual. I hope there is nothing else wrong with it and you have a positive experience with your new purchase.

I'm looking at purchasing a new HP and can't decide between the DV5000t or the new DV2000t. The DV2000t looks really nice and has a lot of nice features but the bigger display on the DV5000t is really tempting. I don't travel too often so probably wouldn't mind carrying the extra weight of the DV5000t.

At first, the light above "scroll" didnt work. Was about to take it back until I realised that it was for "num lock". Doh, but I guess now I dont need to return it. Did a screen test to see any dead pixels, or stuck pixels, and so far nothing to suggest otherwise.

Can't wait to try Vista with this Laptop.

Just read most of the threads relating to the DV5000. It seems like we Australians dont get the option to configure our laptops when ordering online. So basically what we are offered here is a T2300 & T2400 versions for purchase. It seems like the rest of the world can have a T2500. Considering that the laptop I have atm (T2300 CPU) is the same laptop with a T2500, would there be any heat issues if I decide to put a T2500 in place of my T2300?

Would I experience any heat issues if I upgrade to the Core Duo 2 equivalent of the T2300?

If the cpu is installed properly, then there shouldnt be any issues with heat since the processors(in the same family) generally they are all built to be in the same range as for as the thermals are concerned. Increases if any will be small and probably be only felt when the processor is pushed to the limits.

The Core 2 Duo is also expected to be similar to the Core Duo in terms of its thermal output, although that needs to be determined as & when they release more information about them.
