So I posted here when I had a cooling issue on my HP Pavilion DV5z 1000 and it starting working perfectly after I fixed it. Then I kept experiencing a problem when I boot up and it would randomly not start due to a black screen. To fix it, I would pull out the charger, take out the battery and hold down the power button for about 30-60 seconds or so.
After that, I had another problem where I booted up and I would only get 2 blinks on the num lock/caps lock LED. I found out that the blink code was CPU not functional. I replaced the CPU and a blue screen came up after I installed it which had an error that said something about memory. So I took out 1GB of RAM from one of the slots and it started working. I used the notebook with only 1GB of ram while waiting for the other 1GB to come in since I ordered another one.
I received the other 1GB of RAM today. But before I could put it in, I encountered a problem when I booted the notebook. After powering it on, I get a blank screen but all the LED's on the keyboard are lighting up regularly. The caps lock/num lock LED's are blinking nonstop. I wondered if it was a code but it can't be because it's blinking constantly. Then, I powered it down and installed the other 1GB of RAM just to see if it work magically work, but it did not.
It's one problem after another with this notebook and I think it's time to purchase another notebook that isn't HP. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Okay so I attempted to try to fix it with no help...
Right now it's working again and I'm hoping it will stay that way because this thing is a pain to keep taking apart. I kept getting different codes so I disassembled it down to the CPU and made sure everything was in the right place and nothing was loose. After reassembling it back, it started working out of no where. Then I turned it off and continued to reassembled the other parts. I stopped at one of the parts and turned on the computer to make sure it was still working before I put everything back together and it had that blank screen again!
The blinking LED's were showing codes of memory error. I took out 1GB of RAM from one of the slots then it gave me the codes of the CPU not being functional. The CPU that was in there was another one I had bought because I had the CPU not functional code a while ago so I replaced it and it started working.
I replaced the CPU with the old one again since I was getting the same CPU not functional code and it started working. It's very confusing what is going on with this notebook. Parts that I thought were bad are now working when they showed signs of non functional. Currently it's on the old CPU and I hope it lasts because I've disassembled it so many times.
I'll keep this site updated if anything else happens.
