Mine has been getting hot today, but then again that was after five straight hours of streaming HD videos. Get a cooler and you'll be fine. It definitely won't overheat, and you probably won't hear the fan at all unless you're in a totally silent room.

Running a quad core in a confined space will generate some heat but nothing that proping the back up a bit or getting a external cooler can't handle.

The heat is very normal during Surfing internet or Some writing work, Playing music, movies .. etc.

It only get hot when playing High end games, or editing videos.

But no Overheat at all even after hour of playing games.

the sound of fan is really quit. at full speed u 'll need to put your ears near the laptop to hear it :D

the downfall of this lap is:
battery won't pass 2 hours and the Power brick is really big one :S

anyway it's really beautifull laptop comparing to Toshiba's and Dell's.
but if you want the perfection there's alawys vaio .. but it's a little pricey :D

Good thing we stopped you. The MBP i7, in addition to only being dual core, actually does overheat for some.

I don't think it's that common and the issue is with Apple. Glad I could help, though. :)
