    Hello,
I've bought a Pavilion DV7-6099e, with ATI HD 6770m on it.
Powerful (core i7, 8gb ram, 1.5 tb hdd) and stylish, this piece of HP got my eyes and I decided to buy it.
    I run win7 ultimate x64 on it.

The only problem that i have is that no matter OS i've tried (win7 home premium, ultimate, x32 or x64), there is an awful overscan on HDMI. It does not matter what size is the LCD (i've tried several - 32, 40 and 42 inches) it shows the same symptoms: the image itself it is slightly larger than the size of the screen.
I have no idea what can i do. I've searched the net, I've found some advices about finding some opptions about scaling in the CCC, but i don't have the right buttons.
Here's an example from a thread i've found: "In CCC options choose Desktops & Displays tab, then right-click the monitor in the bottom and select Configure. In the Scaling Options tab select correct scaling and image should appear fine".
Of course it is useless for me, because I don't have any monitor button or icon in Desktops&Display tab.
My ATI Driver is up-to-date, that's what CCC reports:

    Driver Packaging Version 8.83.6.2-110412a-117442C-HP
    Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
    2D Driver Version 8.01.01.1134
    2D Driver File Path /REGISTRY/MACHINE/SYSTEM/ControlSet001/Control/CLASS/{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}/0001
    Direct3D Version 7.14.10.0817
    OpenGL Version 6.14.10.10600
    Catalyst Control Center Version 2011.0412.2341.40734

Can you help me out and tell me what is the problem?

Check the settings available in the displays, look for a computer or PC mode for the given input. Changing this setting would be the ideal way to fix this as overscan is a function that televisions do regardless of how an input is setup, however some TVs have a dedicated PC/Computer input which does not overscan the signal.

Good luck with getting it figured out.

You probably want to ignore the CCC and instead go to the Intel Graphics Control Panel to adjust your TV settings.

check the screen/tv's settings (not your laptop's).That's how i solved the same problem that you have.I just had to set the screen size to automatic.(I have a Samsung HDTV)

@edft56 - i have a 42' Haier and a 32' Panasonic - they both show the same problem, I could not solve the problem with your suggested method - thank you

@neothe0ne - i have tried the intel options. i have in graphic options, panel fit, digital television, 2 options: Scale full screen and center image. On center image, the image itself centers leaving 4 wide black bands on either side of the screen. Not feasible. I have also tried in the graphic properties, but to no avail.... - thank you

@wittynorseman - the PC entry on tv is analogic. I try to work it out on HDMI. thank you

Anybody else? By the way, I have tried an acer laptop, 17', with ati 4650m on it. Perfect centering on my both LCD's HDMI connections, without any hassle. Bummer.
