    hey guys, I need some suggestions regarding my HP Pavilion DV8000 with AMD 64 Live processor, I had it upgraded to windows vista 32bit ultimate, with an additional 250gb hard disk, allowing access to 500gb + of hard disk memory.

    the problem I am experiencing is the computer has been shutting down unexpectedly about 5min while in process, after I try powering the laptop up, it shuts down again unexpectedly but this time 2 min or less while in process, it sometimes does not pass the windows is loading screen.. I have taken affect, I came to think it might be a Trojan virus embedded into the boot files of windows, I removed both hard disks and performed a complete disk format on an external machine, I then replaced the hard disk drives back, and installed a fresh copy of windows ultimate 32bit, all ok until 20min into the installation, it was back... it shut down unexpected, I powered it up again it is performing as it was before..shutting down every 2 min when powerd up.

    I also did try and update the bios settings as I have read a forum that it could be the vista operating system not allowing the internal ventilation processing at normal speeds, but this didn’t change a thing, problems still occurred.

    I am starting to think it may be the processor... does anyone have any ideas? I need to get this laptop up and running in a reliable position very soon...

    Thanks for reading, hoping for a reply...

    Kind Regards

    Did you also try blowing air in the vents? It looks like the CPU is overheating as the cpu is pretty much running at full speed when loading windows...

    thanks for the replies;

    the laptop reaches windows, for example if the laptop hasnt been used for just say 3 hours or so, it will go to windows, after a period of time it cuts off, if i try to boot up again it wouldnt reach windows loading screen, i have looked inside the vents and the CPU fans, it doesnt have any large amount of dust that could block the intake, i have used an undercooler tablet everytime, which does raise a mytery...
