I am currently unable to startup my notebook without it bringing up a blue screen. I usually get the System service exception error and the IRQL not less or equal errors. Everything was running smoothly until last night when I was playing LoL and I was blue screened. I tried system restore to no avail. Occasionally I am able to start windows normally, however, I'm usually BS'd around 15 minutes in. I ran the startup test which indicated that the memory test had failed. I will be attempting a hard reset this afternoon to see if that resolves anything.

if your memory test failed perhaps you have faulty RAM?

How do you access the models on the dv6tqe?

flip it over and there is a switch to take out battery. the same switch also unlocks the bottom cover that covers the HD and RAM

Having taken out both modules and tested them individually, I was able to isolate the problem to a defective module, unfortunately it was the 4 gig one :\ .

I'd rather not have to go through HP again, and I was looking to upgrade it eventually anyway. It's not that difficult to do.

I gave in and contacted HP, apparently they need the entire computer to be returned, so I probably won't have one for the rest of the month.
