HP Pavilion G6 i3 vs HP Pavilion G6 A6-3400M sidebyside - why does the i3 version's build quality seem better?

I bought both an HP Pavilion G6 w/ i3-2350M and an HP Pavilion G6 w/ A6-3400M, planned to keep the 3400M. For starters, the screen brightness on the i3 laptop is visibly brighter while the other laptop has a yellow-ish tinge to it, probably due to lack of brightness compared to this one. I have both at highest brightness on battery. Is this due to the graphics chip or something?

Second, the keyboard on the i3 laptop seems much more sturdy with the keys having better feedback and depression.

On the AMD laptop, there is an audible rattling sound on the right side of the laptop chassis whenever a mousepad button is pressed down. The rattling isn't evident in the i3 laptop. I think it's the keys that are rattling but I'm not 100% sure.

Also, the webcam on the i3's has much better colours than the AMD's, which looks washed out. Is this also due to the difference in hardware?

Finally, the mousepad on the AMD laptop is considerably slower and more suspectable to stalling compared to this one.



So are all these problems because of the difference in hardware or could something be wrong with the build in the AMD?

I don't think there should be any differences. I think it's just luck of the draw. I know some DV6s that had more keyboard flex than others, it's just HP's inconsistent build quality.

As for the display, you can use a program like HWinfo and check the particular display models. My guess is that HP sources displays from different manufacturers and the one you got in the AMD one is just a worse quality one.
