Hi guys,
I've got HP Pavilion G6030EG with Sempron 3400+ on S1 Socket. I wanted to change it to Turion 64 X2, but there is one problem. I've searched the net for service manual and it looks very strange to me.
In order to change CPU I have to remove:
- battery
- HDD
- DVDRW
- Keyboard
- Switch cover
- Display assembly
- Top cover
- System board
- Fan/heatsink system
Why so many elements to remove for just one CPU? Why Display assembly? Have someone already changed CPU in this laptop? It's based on the same construction as Compaq F500 and F700 and DV6000, so it would be very helpful to hear someone who already done it.
Thx in advance.

Typically, the display assembly is hinged on the chassis element which is then screwed onto the back panel. In order to remove the back panel it would be necessary to remove all screws which hold other components in place. Basically, most laptops are not designed for upgradability(other than RAM & HDD) and hence are not designed with ease of upgradability in mind.
BTW, before upgrading the cpu make sure the cpu is not soldered onto the motherboard. Some recent low cost HP notebooks like some C700 series have the cpu soldered to the MB. -
The service manual says about removing CPU, no info about that it's soldered - so?

It might be good idea to physically look at the cpu and see if it has the socket around it. Is the cpu visible from any of the bottom panels(espcially near the RAM)? That would be the best way to confirm whether it is socketed or soldered.
