So a friend is selling me an HP Pavilion g7 1017cl laptop for $250. I don't really know about computers enough to tell if this is a good offer or not. I tried searching it up on ebay and google shopping to see what kind of offers I could find but I couldn't find any at all. So I just want to know... is it worth $250? or can I find other better laptops at the same price?

The HP g7 1017cl is a 17 Inch screen, which is really big for a laptop,
you might consider it being not too portable (but still, not that big of a problem)
Then the processing speed it quite okay with AMD Athlon™ II Dual-Core Processor for Notebook PCs P360
It's not quite an i7 processor but working on it is not a problem at all, unless you are intending to use this as a full out HD gaming laptop, you should be fine.
The graphic card is good enough to play .mkv without the screen lagging.
The price range for this notebook was, the last I could find on May 14, 2011, $413.
If you want my honest opinion; I don't think it's worth it, it's a older laptop and you're overpaying it by $150 in my opinion.
why not get yourself something better, like the hp dv7? it all depends on your price range though.
HP Pavilion G7 1017cl... is it worth it?
