Hello, I am a newbie for HP laptop. :)

In my HDX, just about the numeric keypad, there is a processor fan there. You could see the location of the fan from this link. Click "Processor Fan".

    http://h20181.www2.hp.com/plmconten...175&MEID=D3202541-AF39-41E4-8E51-6D151A75B1E6

From time to time, the fan will increase the speed and making quite audible "woo woo" sound which is quite disturbing because that "woo woo" does not constantly exist. When the processor fan is running silently, there is still air blow out for the right side air vent. That tells fan is working.

When the fan noise suddently increase, the air flow out from the air vent also become stronger. It seems the CPU fan has two running speed. Is it the same situation for in other HDX?

This kind of situation happens even in browsing internet. Whenever I click an internet link, the content is loading, the fan noise will increase immediately. If the content loading is only take half second, than fan noise only wooing for half second. It seems the fan works harder when the CPU loading increase. Sometime, the fan running on/off more than 10 times in one minute! When the HDX is in idle mode, the fan is very silent.

Is there any HDX owner notice the same situation with your HDX?

Does other HP laptop user experienced similar situation?

Thanks for your answer or advice in advance :)

Hmm....yes fans nowadays do change speed depending on the temp of the CPU.

But its odd hearing that you fans changes so fast. It seems that ur CPU temp is chaning quite alot... for some reason.

I wouldn't wory about it. The fan comes up to full speed for just a few seconds, and its mostly a times interval. I have seen this happen on many notebooks, and it also does this on my own too.
