I'm taking a look at the new HP Laptops to replace my old one HP DV6 but one thing I notice now is all the new HP laptops on hp.com and other sites selling HP Laptops all have keyboards with arrows that are 1/2 their normal size. I've seen that there are a few exceptions to this, such as the HP DM4 with only 14inch screens.

Anyone know any newer HP laptop models that have at least an intel i3 processor and 15.6inch screen? I figure someone might as this is the HP Pavilion section. Why in the world did HP do something like this in the first place?

Save space to fit that full keyboard on there. Other brands have made their own changes to the arrow keys on full keyobards, it's just that HP's is the most drastic.

It's not really a big deal. It looks weird, but you get used to it and it functions fine.

Yeah, I've spoken with a few other people and they said the same thing. It's a shame that they've had to make such drastic changes to all their models.

It might seem like a big deal but it doesn't make a difference when you're actually using it.

I have no idea why they did this given that I know no one who uses or needs a number pad.

But Dell does this too, as do a lot of manufacturers

That numpad saves a ridiculous amount of time when you're crunching numbers on the computer...

I use my number pad all the time, it's a lot easier than using the numbers above the letter keys...

It takes some getting used to. My up and down arrow keys are half sized and anytime I want to use them I have to look down at the keyboard.

Why don't they make the right shift key shorter like on other laptops and offer at least full size up and down keys:

    yes.

If you're a touch typist, right shift used when typing capital letters on the left side.

I touch type but I always use the left shift key to capitalize regardless of if the letter is on the left or right side.

Well many people use the right shift, otherwise they would have done away with it long time ago.

I only use the center of the space bar as my thumbs are not as fat as those who use the whole bar.

This actually has me curious. How many of you use your RIGHT alt/ctrl? I use the left ctrl for copy/paste/whatever, left alt for alt f4/ctrl alt del...

Right Shift I use pretty often, especially for question marks/quotation marks/colons/any symbol.

I rarely ever use right alt/ctrl. I have gotten in the habit of doing the three finger salute (ctrl-alt-del) all with my right hand.
