    Hi,

I will be purchasing a Pavilion notebook from the US, but I live in Canada. I was wondering if the notebook would be covered under warranty in Canada. I have found conflicting information on the HP website

    Thanks!

Google something called Grey Market goods.

Most mfg's try to PROTECT their native DEALERS, MARKETS... by refusing service on consumer grade items used outside the market they were intented to be sold in.

While most companies are world companies, they have regions, with each being seperate... and one region won't look to favorable on servicing product from another -as their "region" made no profit from the sale of that item, their techs are not certified, they don't have approved parts. (Yes I know the parts are largely the same, thing is a region may be locked out of ordering parts as the model number won't let them pull up anything)

    The above being said...

About the only items that you could get service on to any extent being "business class" products.... Business travelers while traveling on business expecting to get service while out of their home country.

I contact the mfg directly, and get in WRITING info directly to confirm /deny their polices.

Most of the time, when using something outside the home market you either void your warranty, OR are forced to return it to the home market for repair. Keep in mind that some compaines, even if you ship it back to the home market will give you grief on shipping Internationally.
