HP Pavilion dm1z: some questions

Looking to buy a light, ultra portable laptop, (11" is ideal size), as a Christmas gift. The lucky recipient travels often and needs a small laptop to take on her trips. She isn't the slightest computer savvy and only needs it for surfing the 'net, emails, maybe some Skype.
I've never had an HP, but I see the reviews on this model are very positive. I went to hp.com and configured one as such:

Subtotal, $455. Throw in $27 tax and my total price is $482.
Any opinions on this model, configuration? Good deal? Coupons available? Thank you!

For her uses that config of the dm1 should have no problems. My previous gen dm1z runs cool and I dont expect the E450 one to do worse. As far as the price, ~450 is usually what the dm1z sells for. I havent seen HP do much discounting on the dm1z series. But if you can find a coupon or have an academic account you can get that price down a little bit.

If you are not looking for portability or ~5hr battery life...a 14 or 15.6" core i3/pentium/AMD A series based system will provide as good if not better performance in most areas compared to the dm1z.

 

Appreciate the reply, thank you. I think for her needs, particularly for lightweight portability, this model is preferable to any 14" of 15.5" model.
