I own a laptop model dv2777tv. I just formatted and system restore as default settings as before. Besides I replace a 2gb ram instead of 1gb ram so I have 3gb ram now(normally come with 2gb ram as default). But I noticed that this vista system takes me lots of ram. what happen to it actually?
P/S i had uninstalled most of the HP software which is unnecessary in my pc.

Windows Vista caches things so that RAM usage stays moderately high and is not just wasted by being unused.
-longer version-
Quote: "Vista is trying its darndest to pre-emptively populate every byte of system memory with what it thinks I might need next. It's running a low-priority background task that harvests previously accessed data from the disk and plops it into unused system memory. They even have a fancy marketing name for it-- SuperFetch" -
Disable indexing and superfetch
