Alright. My little brother just bought an HP Pavilion dv2000 from Best Buy, it's a good laptop but it has one huge problem.

Everytime you have Firefox open and use the touch volume control, it locks up Firefox and makes it not respond. Then the volume meter that comes up on screen wont disappear until you get Firefox to close. Just a small problem with a good laptop, but I am just wondering if it would be best for me to do a clean OS install for him? Or is this a known problem from other users that is an easy fix?

He is using the new Firefox 3, I haven't tried older versions of Firefox, or IE for that matter. I'll try IE and see if it does it.

Well it appears to be a computer wide problem. I haven't tried with any other applications open. But it locks IE up also. I'll try some other programs later when I get the chance. Do you think simply uninstalling the drivers and re-installing them could help? Or am I doomed to a full system restore?

update: It seems to work perfectly fine with Windows Media Player and other song software. The only thing I can really narrow it down to is the web browsers. When I am in a web browser and swipe my finger across the volume control, it brings up a little pop up window that shows how high/low the volume is. That seems to be the locking up point.

i dont have this problem but it is probably because i slide my finger across the volume control instead of pressing the button, i dont know if you push the button or slide, but i havent had a problem with it when i slide my finger across it
