Hi everyone!
I have this Pavilion dv2120us that's a little more than a year old. I 've had a lot of problems with it within the past few months. HP already replaced the motheboard (due to a wireless card failure), the DVD drive and the battery within the last 3-4 months. Now I'm having a new problem with this notebook. A few weeks ago, I noticed that my notebook wouldn't restart. Everytime I click restart from the Start menu (I'm using Vista Home Premium by the way), it normally goes through the Vista shutdown screen then after the screen would get blank but all the blue LEDs would remain on. Even now, I can't restart my notebook normally. The peculiar thing is it shutdowns properly if I choose shutdown. But eventually other problems propped up. Now, occassionally, it won't turn on. This happens both after a cold boot and upon powering it on again after having used it for a few minutes. What happens is the blue LEDs just turns on (I can hear the fan working and even the DVD drive; the hard drive light blinks for a few time then altogether stops) but nothing comes on from the screen, not even the BIOS / HP logo. I would then power it off by holding the power button for 5 seconds then power it on again. I also noticed that after I exit the BIOS, the screen would just turn blank again with the blue LEDs on.
I need help please. I've read in a few forums that this may be a sign of a motherboard failing. And to think that they've just replaced the motherboard last December. And the worst part is the warranty has expired. Help! :-(

Pop the battery out and unplug the AC power then hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Now run it only on AC power and turn it back on.
If that doesnt work, yes you might be looking at gpu/motherboard failure -
Thanks man, but I already did that and it didn't fix the problem :-( BIG SIGH

I actually had the same issue with my old dv2000 but it made 3 beeps which told me it was gpu fail. Though i was still able to turn it on at random occasions.
I suggest backing up your stuff before it completely fails. -
mine doesn't make any beeps though... anyway, thanks. i'll bakcup my data now.
